Vehicle Detail
I purchased the automobile in 2005 with 62,000 miles, making me the second registered owner after the dealership in which it was traded into. According to dealership, the previous owner had all service work done, as specified by guide lines, at the MB dealership from which it was originally purchased [Including the 50,000 major service.] Upon pick up, every button, switch and lever worked except the passenger mirror. It was fully functional with regards to adjustment, but did not retract. Till this day it remains as such. To the unknowing, the 1997-1999 S600's were a tremendous improvement over the 92-96's. They are safer, [addition of side air bags, Xenon lights, E.S.P.] more reliable,[upgraded wiring harness, simplified climate control mechanism] more luxurious [2 tone Napa leather] and a five speed electronically controlled transmission [smoother/better gas mileage]. Visit MB forums to find out more. I averaged about 2,000+ miles per year, I used the auto primarily for summer car shows and Sunday drives. The car is garaged, but was occasionally exposed to elements. I mention this because of the AMG rims marginal chrome condition. They are staggard widths and 18 inches in circumference. The Mercedes shows signs of minimal wear only. It is super clean and tidy. The paint is reflective of an extraordinarily well taken care of car. The nose has the normal pin size hwy chips. No dings/dents. This was a very expensive car and was treated as such. MB dealership “Estate Motors” went over the whole car after I purchased. They changed external oil pan gasket and synthetic motor oil. They replaced external transmission gaskets, as well as synthetic fluid and filter. They also replaced the HVAC blower motor and regulator. They changed out the rear differential fluid and rear seal. I figured a few G’s up front would avoid costly mechanical problems later on. In 2009, I had the two oxygen sensors replaced, and the computer re-flashed by MB dealer in White Plains. There were a total 250 S600's imported in 1997. The only two options were parktronic at $995.00 and quad seating at $5,500. Roughly 10% +/- had quad seating, this car has both options. The base sticker was $137,000. Figures based on Mercedes Benz of America. There are no electrical issues known. AC works flawless on all four zones. {Be very wary of any W140 with non functioning A/C or dashboard warning lights}. N.Y.S emission inspection recently completed. Whoever buys this car will be getting one of the best luxury cars made irrespective of era………period. A $500. non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending via paypal. The car is used, and as such is being sold "AS IS" with no warranty expressed or implied. I reserve the right to disregard all bidders with zero feedback, unless I am contacted first. Footnote; Brand new battery installed . The car is Not listed for sale locally. Whoever hits the reserve ....gets the car. Own a peice of automobile history[recently viewed the movie "Who Killed The Electric Car"]. Guess which vehicle is parked right next to the EV1 in the California Auto Museum.Yup, the W140 S600. Things to address; 1: Vacuum pump for trunk /door lock/seat bolsters .Average $300. + 2: Power antenna goes up, but does not retract. Does not affect radio function. Price varies 3: Window regulator for rear passenger window as seen on E-Bay $30-$40. Please click on link below to view video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_8C76vzBcU Question asked. Was car relisted? Yes...purchaser was deliquent. Second listing ended $100 shy of new reserve. Question asked. What is the bottom line price? The reserve has been lowered to $9000. The car will be stored for the winter and enjoyed next year for anything less. Question asked. Do I have paper work for service from Estate Motors? Yes Question asked. Why is car being offered for such a low price, r u hiding something? No, I am not hiding something. Hire a 3rd party inspection, as I did when I bought the car, to confirm the description. Question asked. Is the paint original? Yes Question asked. Will you consider a trade? No Question asked. What are the condition of the brakes? Recently past NYS safety/emmissions....smooth, no pulsing. Question asked. What is the color? Black Opal. Question asked. Do I have the original rims? No, they are on my brothers S320[wider then his O.E.M.]
