Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 You are bidding on a 1948 Studebaker Commander 4dr. I am the second owner of this automobile and knew the previous owner for over 50 years so I can verify the mileage is correct at 85,500 miles. This is a drive anywhere car, needs nothing, only one thing does not work, the clock stopped recently. It has one repaint in the original color of Boulevard Grey that was a popular color for Studebaker for several years. Since I have owned this car I have went through the brake system and replace wheel cylinders and brake shoes, a complete rewire was done with proper colored wiring harness in new plastic cover. I have checked compression and it is well within range of where it should be, no weak cylinders, oil pressure excellent above 40 lbs. Of course it is standard shift w/over drive coupled with a very strong clutch, has the hill holder as standard equipment on Commanders, 8 tube push button radio, and factory turn signals. An electric fuel pump has been added to combat the tendency to vapor lock as old cars do on modern gas, electric pump has separate switch to operate pump when needed. All tires are Firestone licensed to Coker and are of original design for the period of car manufacture with good tread. Upholstery is original in very good condition with no rotting or tears, as are the door panels original also, the carpet is not original, but is of very good quality Car won a first place at the Studebaker International show in 2001, also was the Turning Wheels cover car picture in May of 2000. Some rust repair has been done on the rocker panels and a small place in the trunk; otherwise the car is rust free. Many spare parts go with this sale list as follows; Nos front spring (this model used only one cross spring) Spare starter, generator, 4 rebuilt lever arm shocks, new tail pipe, 2 new water pumps, new mechanical fuel pump, 4 new center hub caps, shop manual, original owners manual and an assortment of electrical parts and other assorted pieces. Why spend time restoring, this buy is ready to go and show! Reason for selling: I am 76 and my interest in old cars is waning. Payment in full 5 days after auction close, by cash certified check or money order. Buyer responsible for pick up or transport in 15 days after payment clears.
