1977 Y81 Special Edition Trans Am TRUE "BANDIT" PROJECT 1977 Y81 Special Edition Trans Am only 549 of these built that year. Pontiac produced a total of 136,114 Firebirds and Trans Ams for 1977. If you by chance happen to own a 1977 Y81 (Special Edition without T-tops), you had better hold on to that rare bird for awhile. Only 549 of these units were built for 1977. In reality, any Y81 Trans Am would be a very rare collectible because in total only 1,861 units were ever produced. That is only 2.7 percent of all Trans Ams built in 1977 and 1.4 percent of all the Firebird and Trans Am line combined! A TRUE rare bird. Please keep in mind that this car is a project car it does have the typical rust for its age...The engine and transmission are out of the car.
