FIRST YEAR NAKED GOLDWING WITH 5851 ORIGINAL MILES, THIS IS A 5 DAY AUCTION 2 OWNER BIKE FROM NEW AND MOSTLY ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR A REPLACEMENT CHROME EXHAUST SYSTEM, PROGRESSIVE SHOCKS AND A DYNA ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM, I BOUGHT THIS BIKE FROM THE SECOND OWNER WHO QUIT RIDING IT 3 YEARS AGO, HE HAD IT STORED IN HIS GARAGE WHICH WAS HEATED, THAT WAS THE GOOD PART,,, NOW FOR THE BAD,,, IT WAS STORED IN THE OH SO FAMILIAR WAY WITH HALF A TANK OF SKUNKY GAS AND THE CARBS FULL OF IT AS WELL, SHE STARTED AND RAN, BUT NOT WELL, SO HERE IS WHAT I HAD TO DO, INTO MY SHOP AND UP ON THE BENCH, DRAINED THE FUEL TANK, ENGINE OIL, REAR DIFF AND DRAINED THE COOLING SYSTEM, PULLED THE CARBS OFF THE MOTOR AND STRIPPED THEM DOWN FOR A GOOD SOAKING IN THE HOT TANK, 4 NEW CARB KITS AND REBUILT BOTH BANKS, INSTALLED NEW FUEL LINES AND FUEL FILTER, THOROUGHLY CLEANED OUT THE FUEL TANK WITH MINERAL SPIRITS AND AGITATED WITH AN AIR LINE, REPEATED UNTIL THE SPIRITS RAN CLEAR, REPLACED THE PETCOCK O RING AND COPPER WASHER ON THE DRAIN PLUG, NEW AIR FILTER IN THE CANISTER AND POLISHED THE INTAKE RUNNERS AND RE INSTALLED THE CARBS, ADJUSTED LINKAGE, REPLACED ENGINE OIL AND FILTER AND FILLED THE REAR DIFF WITH LUCAS OIL, AS THE RADIATOR WAS OFF THE BIKE I CHECKED THE TIMING BELTS WHICH I HAD BEEN TOLD WERE REPLACED AT 5200 MILES FOR SAFETY REASONS AS WERE THE ORIGINAL TIRES WITH BRIDGESTONE SPITFIRE'S,,, BELTS LOOKED NEW TO ME, POLISHED OFF SOME OXIDATION FROM THE TIMING BELT COVERS AND RESEALED AND REPLACED, REMOVED THE VALVE COVERS AND CHECKED FOR VALVE CLEARANCE, POLISHED THE COVERS AND BUTTONED THEM BACK UP, INSTALLED NEW NGK SPARK PLUGS, RADIATOR WAS NICE AND CLEAN SO I PUT THAT BACK ON AND FILLED THE SYSTEM WITH FRESH COOLANT, FILLED HER UP WITH NON ETHANOL PREMIUM UN LEADED FUEL AND BENCH STARTED THE BIKE, GOT HER UP TO TEMPERATURE SO THE RADIATOR FAN KICKED ON AND SYNCHED THE CARBS, ADJUSTED IDLE SPEED AND LOW SPEED MIXTURE, TOOK HER OFF THE BENCH AND WENT FOR A NICE GENTLE RIDE, BROUGHT HER HOME AND DUMPED THE MOTOR OIL,,, REPLACED AND TOOK HER OUT AGAIN FOR A LITTLE BIT MORE OF A SPIRITED RIDE THIS TIME AND MUST SAY I HAD A REALLY GOOD TIME ON THE OLD GIRL, IT DOES FOR ME WHAT A MOTORCYCLE SHOULD DO, IT HANDLES RATHER WELL FOR A BIG GIRL, STOPS QUITE WELL AND GOES MUCH FASTER THAN I REALLY WANT TO ANYMORE, GOT A COUPLE OF THUMBS UP WHEN I STOPPED FOR FUEL ALONG WITH PASSING WAVES FROM OTHERS I PASSED ,WHICH MADE ALL THE EFFORT WORTHWHILE, I WINTERIZED THE BIKE 2 WEEKS AGO BEFORE THE RAINS SET IN,,,, NO FUEL IN THE BIKE OR CARBS,,,,,,,, I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY MY FRIENDS BRIDGEPORT MILL WITH DRO AND TONS OF TOOLING,, I NEED THE MILL MORE THAN I DO ANOTHER BIKE IN THE SHOP, SO EITHER WITH THIS VENUE OR WORD OF MOUTH THE BIG HONDA NEEDS TO GO BYE BYE, THE NOT SO GOOD,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,THE AFTER MARKET EXHAUST IS NOT THE BEST QUALITY OF CHROME AND THE LEFT SILENCER DID NOT POLISH UP AS GOOD AS THE RIGHT SIDE, AT SOME POINT IN HER LIFE THE FRONT BRAKE RESERVOIR MUST HAVE LEAKED AND IN DOING SO SPOTTED THE RIGHT SIDE TANK SHELTER, IT DOESN'T REALLY BOTHER ME AS I LIKE A BIKE AS A RIDER AND NOT A GARAGE QUEEN AND FOR THIS MONEY IT WOULD DO JUST THAT, BE AN EXCELLENT AND RELIABLE, INEXPENSIVE CLASSIC RIDER, THANKS A LOT FOR HAVING MADE IT THROUGH MY LONG WINDED DESCRIPTION, BUT HOPE IT HAS TAKEN AWAY SOME OF THE MYSTERY OF WHAT SHE CURRENTLY IS ALL ABOUT, THE COLLECTOR PLATE STAYS WITH THE BIKE UNTIL YOU RE REGISTER IT AND TRANSFER THE CLEAR TITLE. COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL, THE BIKE HAD A PLEXIFAIRING WINDSHIELD WHICH I REMOVED, THE TOP 2 HANDLEBAR CLAMP NUTS WILL BE REPLACED WITH SOCKET HEAD CAP SCEWS AS SHOULD BE PRIOR TO THE CLOSE OF AUCTION, BIKE IS 35 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE DONE MY BEST TO TELL YOU IN DETAIL MY ACTIONS AND THOUGHTS,,, BUT IS BEING SOLD AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED.
