Vehicle Detail
This is a 1976 Porsche 911S Targa. This car is in very decent shape with just a few things that I would like to fix to make it a daily driver. Dark forest Green color, has been painted original color was brown as seen in pictures in inside of engine compartment and door jams. I purchased this car from my mechanic who was selling for the man who owned it since buying from the first owner. Gentleman was selling due to his age and being overweight he had difficulty getting in and out of. I have driven about weekly or bi-weekly since owning except over the winter. I have had car trouble with my daily driver (1985 mercedes 300D) so I need to sell this as I don't get to give it as much attention as I believe it deserves ( I don't get to drive it much lately working so much an hour away). The car is great mechanically and doesn't leak any oil or transmission fluid as far as I can tell (never leaves drip spots) and looks clean in engine compartment. It has the H4 headlights and a upgraded fan blade as well as webber carbs. The paint is in good condition except it has a couple small bubble spots in one place and a few chips on the lower front bumper part that you can probably see in the pictures as the brown is showing through. The few things that I would say need to be fixed to drive in the rain etc. are the vinyl top is cracked in some places and would need to be replaced as well as the front and rear targa top seal as they are a bit warped from age and leak a bit in heavy rain if the car is sitting still. The middle of the seats upholstry is worn and the padding is showing. Other then that the dash is very good without cracking and all the carpet is there and nice. Overall this is a very nice Porsche that needs a little TLC to be a great daily driver or a bit more TLC to be completely restored, either way its a great start and mechanically very sound! I wish I had a garage to keep it in since moving and a more reliable fleet of cars cause I would be keeping it. Anyway Great car for the price. I was originally looking to get around 10,000 cause thats what its worth I believe strongly but in order to get rid of quicker and give someone a good deal Im looking for more like 8,000 but have just lowered my asking price. I will set the reserve around there or a bit under so Good Luck bidding and Email with any questions! Thanks for looking! I have lowered the reserve price this time and This Car Will Sell within the next week so if you want it don't let it get away. Great Deal to be had!! On Sep-16-10 at 16:50:01 PDT, seller added the following information: This isn't that important but I do have the original owners manual with cover as well as a couple other manuals. I believe the tool kit was there but not complete but I will have to double check. I also am fairly sure I still have the visors but need to check( I took them off as they weren't all that great. They were original I believe and were a bit worn out on the inside as well as I didn't like them when I drove the car with the top off which was most of the time. There may be another update as I am out of town at the moment and will be back with the car tomorrow. Thanks. On Sep-30-10 at 16:19:28 PDT, seller added the following information: I am updating this because I want to make sure the correct info is exactly right since this is going to sell. The actual mileage is 111,377 miles at this moment, I apologize i thought it was right around 110 so an extra 1000 miles, I just had my father go check as I am not in Richmond during the week. I also figured that the pictures would be obvious and I thought when I had it listed before I had said specifically that car did not have heat ducts run although the switches and fan work. There is no AC as obvious in the engine compartment picture. Anyway, hope this helps and I am going to try and upload another picture or two if on this laptop with the car in direct sunlight. I also will be going home tomorrow so I can answer a couple questions people have asked such as the engine number and specific pictures so hopefully i will update by saturday at the latest with that info. Someone will definitely be happy with this car and very very happy once they show it a little love. Thanks for checking it out.On Oct-02-10 at 09:35:24 PDT, seller added the following information: This Porsche has engine # 901 106 101 5R and it says its the 911S CID 163.9 engine family. I will work on uploading some additional pictures this afternoon as well.On Oct-02-10 at 12:53:34 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added a few more pictures and want to make sure the highest bidder knows that when won I will send you an invoice with payment instructions and total. I just tried to start it and the car will either need to be jump started or have the battery replaced if you plan on driving it home, car will start with a jump though. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. On Oct-02-10 at 13:00:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Just added a few more crawled under the car best i could, the only rust issue is exhaust but it isn't damaged it is surface rust that has been that way in same capacity since bought, could clean up some. No rust in wheel wells or inside or anything like that or top.On Oct-02-10 at 13:25:42 PDT, seller added the following information: This listing has really given me a chance to re look at everything on the car and I feel like its a reasonable listing. I think the pictures represent the car however you are bidding on a car that once able to pick apart you will SURELY find an additional paint bubble or imperfection or two or three. I see that the windshield and rear glass rubber trim is not perfect however it doesn't leak. There is some cracking in the cardboard that is at the edge of the back of the rear seats that is noticeable when you pull the carpet back. I am just trying to give you 100% accurate info because the more this goes on I keep trying to make sure you know what I know and see. I think the car could benefit from a tune up like new plug wires as these seem old but they work well as far as I can tell. I haven't been driving the car much so I would also say an oil change would be great too which I would say we can do before its picked up or driven home at my house if the buyer wants to purchase oil or supply me with it, however this isn't required, your choice after you pay. I will ensure the tires have correct pressure and what not. The speedometer works as well as the gas gauge and odometer and all that but the tach never seemed correct and it works intermittently. Glove box works well and has light inside I believe. All the mechanical stuff on the actual targa top is nice and works very well and is without play or slop however the vinyl isn't that great like i said before. Thanks again for checking it out. Let me know if there is anything else you would like to know.On Oct-02-10 at 14:04:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok someone just told me that the engine number I posed wasn't the engine number. The number I posted before was on top of the engine blade and the other info was from the engine compartment on the body of the car. I was told it was under the engine so under the passenger side valve cover there was this number 901 105 111 1R. If front of that (closer to the front of the car on another part it says Behr L5 and then another number 911 107 04100. Thanks. On Oct-02-10 at 14:36:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Engine number is 6460924 finally.
