Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE NO RESERVE NO RESERVE HIGH BID WINS VERY SOLID ARIZONA CAR!!! 1971 PLYMOUTH DUSTER TWISTER (RARE) DON'T SEE TOO MANY REAL 71 TWISTERS OUT THERE 318 CU IN / AUTOMATIC 8 3/4 IN REAR AXLE!!! V8 318 CUBIC INCH MOTOR (NOT ORIGINAL MOTOR) WITH A WEILAND 8007 ALUMINUM 4 BBL INTAKE MANIFOLD, EDELBROCK 4BBL 1406 CARB. UPGRADED ELECTRONIC IGNITION, HEADERS DUAL EXHASUT WITH GLASS PACK MUFFLERS WITH SIDE OUTLET, 904 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. HEAVY DUTY RADIATOR. CRAGER SS MAGS. THIS HAD A 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION IN IT FROM THE FACTORY IT WAS CONVERTED AUTOMATIC BY A CHRYSER DEALERSHIP IN THE 70'S. OTHER THEN HAVING THE SHIFTER HUMP IN PLACE THERE ARE NO INDICATIONS IT WAS EVER A MANUAL. ORIGINALLY THE CAR WAS GY8 GOLD METALLIC BLACK STRIPES WITH BLACK BENCH INTERIOR 1971 TWISTER WAS THE ONLY YEAR THAT IT SHARED THE INFAMOUS SHARK TOOTH GRILLE WITH IT'S COUNTERPART 340. THIS ORIGINALLY WAS EQUIPPED WITH DUAL PAINTED RALLY MIRRORS WITH LH REMOTE (MISSING). BLACK OUT HOOD WITH DUAL SCOOPS AND LADDER STRIPES. 8 3/4 IN REAR AXLE. WHEEL LIP MOLDINGS, CIGARETTE LIGHTER. THIS IS A DRIVER. I JUST PUT IN NEW CARPET, AND HAD ALL OF THE BRAKES REDONE. I ALSO REPLACED THE HOOD SCOOPS NEW. THE PREVIOUS OWNER SOLD THE ORIGINALS. IT IS CLEAN ARIZONA CAR AND THE ONLY RUST REPAIRS THAT I SEE WAS SOME NEW METAL IN THE EXTREME LOWER QUARTERS BEHIND THE REAR WHEELS. THE BODY ITSELF IS PAINTED IN A BLUE METALLIC BUT IT IS SHOWING FLAWS AS THE AZ HEAT AND SUN HAS MADE THE PAINT LITTLE BLOTCHY IN REGARDS TO THE METALLIC OVER THE SUMMERS. SO IT COULD USE A NEW PAINT JOB. THERE HAS BEEN FILLER ON THE REAR LH QUARTER BEHIND THE REAR WHEEL FROM A FENDER BENDER SEVERAL YEARS AGO. THERE ARE ALSO SOME PLACES WHERE THERE HAS BEEN VERY LIGHT FILLER TO FILL IN DOOR DINGS. GLASS IS ORIGINAL AND THE FLOORS AND TRUNK PANS , ROCKER PANELS FIREWALL ETC ARE FREE OF RUST. THE ORIGINAL INTERIOR WAS LITERALLY COOKED FROM 100 DEGREE HEAT OVER THE PAST 39 YEARS BUT IT WAS REPLACED WITH A 72 DUSTER DONOR INTERIOR A FEW YEARS BACK SO IT LOOKS PRETTY GOOD NOW. HAS BEEN DETAILED AND IS VERY CLEAN. OVERALL A GREAT PROJECT NEEDING ONLY LITTLE TLC AND SOME COSMETIC TOUCH UPS AND LITTLE THINGS (SUNVISORS, ARM REST PADS, SPEAKERS) FOR THE WEEKEND HOBBYIST. THIS IS NOT A RESTORED CAR. IT IS A USED CAR. $1000 DEPOSIT IS DUE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF AUCTION END AND THE REMAINING BALANCE WITHIN 3 DAYS. PLEASE MAKE CONTACT WITHIN 24 HRS WITH EITHER PAYMENT OR EMAIL ETC. IF I DO NOT GET SOMETHING FROM THE WINNER WITHIN THE FIRST 24 HOURS I USUALLY WILL NOT. THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION IS ONLY AN OPINION NOT A WARRANTY. SOLD AS IS. I DO NOT HAVE THE FENDER TAG OR BUILD SHEET BUT I DO HAVE PHOTOS OF THE CAR AND THE VIN IN THE PHOTOS IN IT'S ORIGINAL PAINT FOR VERIFICATION. THE REAR TAIL PANEL DECAL WILL BE INSTALLED ON TUESDAY. THE TRUNK LID HAS THE UNDERSIDE CUTOUTS FOR THE GO-WING IF THE BUYER CHOOSES TO INSTALL ONE. IMPORTANT NOTE. I WILL BE OUT OF TOWN OCTOBER 7TH THRU THE 11TH. SO OUT OF STATE OR OUT OF COUNTRY BUYERS MAKE SURE YOU ARRANGE TRANSPORT ACCORDINGLY. On Sep-27-10 at 18:07:36 PDT, seller added the following information: To Mopar Guru's out there this is common knowledge. THis explanation is for new collectors or people just getting into the classic cars. To clear up some confusion with some of the questions. The "Twister" option was introduced in 1971 and I believe thru the 73 model year. It was Mopar attempt to have a Duster that had the looks of the Duster 340 without the Duster 340 insurance premium. Much like what Chevy was doing with the "Heavy Chevy" Chevelle and the Rally Nova. 1971 to my knowledge was the only year the Twister featured the 340 grille. The Twister option had a unique hood that was partially blackout with outlining pinstripe. Available with twin hood scoops, that were used previously with 69 -70 Coronet /Super Bee cars. Also included 14" Rallye wheels without trim rings. THis particular car also had the chrome wheel lip moldings, dual painted rallye mirrors with LH remote and cigarette lighter. The "Twister" option could have a 6 cylinder engine and only the V8 318. THe go-wing rear spoiler was also an option. This car as seen in the pics has the cutouts on the underside for such a spoiler. So as far as I know they never had 340 engines. The stripes you see on this car are what was available that year. Where the 340 decal on the quarter panel are located on the Duster 340. THe "Twister" decal took it's place with the spinning guy with eyes on the stripe. I do not have production Numbers on the 71 Twister, but I have been told for years that they are rare. I have had some comments from people telling me that all Duster were Twisters and Gold Duster were Twisters etc. And if the spinning Twister was on the car that made that Duster a Twister. I assure you that is not the case. "Twister" was a specific option to the Duster. Thanks!!!
