Here is a ALL FACTORY ORIGINAL Southern California 1955 Oldsmobile that was built right here in Southern Calif. at the GENERAL MOTORS DIVISION PLANT that was located in the city of SOUTH GATE, CALIFORNIA. The VIN. # is 558C17072, BODY STYLE 3637D, TRIM # 0314, PAINT # S 62 ( CORAL) and 65 is (SHELL BEIGE). It is a "SUPER 88" With the ORIGINAL 324 CU IN. 8 CYLINDER, 3 7/8 BORE and 3 7/16 STROKE ENGINE, and the ORIGINAL 4 SPEED HYDRAMATIC TRANSMISSION that it left the Factory with when new! This Vehicle was Number 7,072 & Produced at that plant in 1955. Since I am the 4th owner of this vehicle, I cannot verify the actual mileage shown on the speedometer. I would be inclined to believe it is 146,016 instead, due to the wear on the ORIGINAL UPHOLSTERY shown in the photos. The Transmission shifts smooth and the engine runs good, but it does have some Hydraulic Lifter Noise when first starting it up, but then smooths out in a few seconds. It doesn't seem to use oil, but does have some small oil leakage from the Engine Area. I keep a drip pan underneath to keep the floor clean. The Transmission doesn't seem to have any visual leaks, and the fluid smells clean, not burned. This 55 Oldsmobile has FACTORY POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, ACCESSORY UNDER THE HOOD LIGHT , and TRUNK LUGGAGE LIGHT, EXCELLENT WORKING PUSH BUTTON RADIO, along with REAR SEAT SPEAKER, ORIGINAL ELECTRIC WORKING CLOCK (recently repaired). WORKING DELUXE HEATER with 2 SPEED BLOWER and DEFROST OPTION (defrost hoses need to be replaced due to age and deterioration). FACTORY WINDSHIELD WASHERS and Wipers. All of the ORIGINAL TINTED GLASS is good with no Cracks. It has a new replacement Headliner that was installed by the previous owner before I purchased the car a couple of years ago. It is Light Gray in color. This car has 4 NEAR NEW L-78 x 15 inch Polyester Tubeless Whitewall 4 Ply TIRES. ( THE SPARE IS NOT NEW). It Also Has 4 Only, ORIGINAL OLDSMOBILE FIESTA FLIPPER STYLE HUBCAPS that it came with when the car was purchased New. ( These are becoming quite" rare" as they were very desireable at that time, and usually ended up at the "Midnight Auto Supply" for a price! ) THE ORIGINAL FACTORY INTERIOR needs to be redone as the photos will show, as AGE has got the Best of it. The Paint also needs to be redone , but will look much better with a good cleaning & Wax Job. All of the Lights, Turn Indicators, Dash Lights, Back up lights, Brake Lights, Tail Lights, Rear License Plate Tag Light, And the Horn, Work as they should. The Chrome and Stainless Trim is Decent as is. THIS CAR CAN BE DRIVEN HOME AFTER PURCHASE, IF YOU DESIRE TO DO SO. It Has Been Very Reliable While We Have Owned It ( about 3200 Miles). You Can take it to cruise night functions and drive it as is, until you are ready to restore it to your satisfaction. This OLDSMOBILE, In My Opinion, Has About a 96 % Rust Free Body, Since it has spent its life in So. California and Nevada Climate. The Small Amount of Rust is located in the Lower Rocker Panels Underneath where the Stainless Trim is Located. It has 3 very small holes in the rocker panel area on the Passenger Side, and 1 Small hole in the rocker panel on the Driver Side of the Front Fender. WE WILL INCLUDE 2 NEW ROCKER PANEL STAINLESS TRIM PIECES TO THE WINNING BIDDER OF THIS AUCTION! .
