Vehicle Detail
I am the 3rd owner of this 1993 Saab 900S convertible, with a 2.1 liter 4-cyl. engine. I was given this car as a graduation present in May of 2009, from a friend of the family. I installed a New Ragtop in June 2009. It appeares to have been in a small accident with the first owner, as the hood has been repainted and there are a few small dings and scratches around the engine compartment and a ding in driverside quarterpanel. It has Minor surface rust around engine compartment. Other than that, the car ran very well and handles excellently. I replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap and rotor, and the fuel filter. In October 2009, a fuel pump wire shorted out. Mechanic broke fuel pump in the process of replacing the wire. Installed new fuel pump Jan. 2010. In Feb. the ignition coil went, plus the ignition relay. This is a common problem with this year Saab. It would be an estimated $325 to have repaired at a Saab Dealership, or around $40 to $75 to fix yourself. Therefore, the car DOES NOT currently run, but would be a fairly simple fix. I would fix it myself, except I'm attending Corning CC, for Auto Mechanics, and i cant afford it right now; plus, I really need the money for my tuition. Also Needs exhaust work. Car sold As is. Buyer will be responsible for Shipping. Shipping MAY be possible up to 200 miles, via Scott Bond of Bond Transport Company Llc. He can be reached weekdays at 570-637-0815, or nights and weekends at 570-395-3472. After reviewing the vehicle history report, I have found that it was in a collision May 29th, 2001. The Insurance company Totalled it (meaning it would cost them more to fix it than what it was worth), and it was issued a Salvage title. The previous owner bought it and rebuilt it after the collision. And it was issued a rebuilt/rebuildable title on Dec. 6th, 2001. If u have any questions or comments, please email me, or text 570-637-5716. On Monday I charged and installed the battery and tinkered with the ignition coil and relay wire, and started the car. It ran normally for about two minutes before it shut off and wouldnt start again. Therefore it will run, and should be a quick fix for anyone with experience working on Saabs. The exhaust is rusting through after the catalytic converter and should be replaced. I would suggest to get the exhaust parts from Pick-A-Part, or to peice it together. That can be done for around $100 w/ new peices, or $20-30 via Pick-A-Part. A brand new exhaust specified for this Saab will run about $300 at an auto parts store.
