Vehicle Detail
While visiting friends in New York State this summer I was given a lead of an old Chevy station wagon that was hiding in a barn for the past 20 years. After chasing down the owner and convincing him that the car deserved a better fate, we then came to terms and the automobile was transported to my home in Western Pennsylvania. As you can see by my photos, the old Chevy station wagon turned out to be a 1955 Nomad in the "Rare and Desirable" two-tone color combination of Turquoise and Ivory inside and out. This car is in nearly complete condition, it rolls & steers but has no brakes and does not run. This is an original V-8 automatic car but the original engine has been replaced with a complete 1956 2-barrel motor. The interior is all original and complete other than the cigarette lighter. As my photos show, I do have the complete rear seat with all of the trim and the support bar. I also have all of the stainless steel trim from the door panels and the rear cargo floor area. The floor pan from the cowl to under the front seat and the rear cargo area are somewhat solid but both rocker panels are shot and the rear seat floor pan is totally gone, and half of the spare tire well is gone (please see my photos of all these areas). Both front doors, the tailgate and upper rear window are all complete and open and latch correctly. All of the clear window glass is original. The windshield has a BB chip and a wiper scuff and the drivers door window is cracked. The rest of the glass is in nice condition. The frame appears to be straight and damage free but does have some rust through in the rear. The front bumper was hit and pushed in the grill and slightly buckled the fronts of the fenders. The hood was not damaged from this accident but from something that fell on it while it was stored in the barn. In my opinion the hood and front fenders need replaced. I am sorry but I did not receive nor do I have the eyebrow, front fender and door moldings. Please understand this is a major restoration project and you are bidding to buy, not to be the first to look. If you need to examine this Nomad during the auction, you are more than welcome and I recommend that you do so. I am Not interested in any trades and do Not have a buy it now price. This 1955 Nomad comes with a clean, clear, Pennsylvania title and the winning bidder will pay a substantial deposit within 48 hours with the balance due upon pickup of vehicle within 7 days. The car is located in the Pittsburgh, Pa. region 150 miles from the Carlisle & Hershey automotive swap meets and can be reliably delivered there for a reasonable fee. Thank you for looking and good luck bidding! On Sep-19-10 at 20:43:21 PDT, seller added the following information: collectorcarsnparts4u Store Click here to get free ebay auction templates at Auctiva.com
