Vehicle Detail
Vehicle Description: This is an Original 1968 Mustang GT/CS California Special. The car has documentation of a Deluxe Marti Report showing that it is an original GT/CS and is the original color and options. There were only 4,118 California Specials built for the 1968 model year. This car has the unusual build date of February 29, 1968. It features Shelby rear decklid and endcaps, taillights and rear panel, quarter panel scoops, Lucas fog lights and Shelby hood twist down pins. I have owned this car for approximately four years. The previous owner indicated that the car was restored in 2001. Since that time, the car has been driven approximately 1,300 miles. Drivetrain: It has the original matching numbers 289 C code V8 and C4 automatic transmission. The engine has a non-original Ford aluminum 4 barrel intake and Holley 600 4 barrel carburetor with electric choke. This was installed at the time of the restoration. The car has a stock original air cleaner. There is a Pertonix electronic ignition installed inside the distributor. It has a reproduction oem style dual exhaust and H pipe. The front suspension got new upper and lower control arms, tie rods, shocks and front springs at the time of restoration. It has factory original power disc brakes and power steering. All components were new at the time of restoration. The car has the original 1968 Ford styled steel wheels with radial tires. The tires were new at the time of restoration. Body and Interior: At the time of restoration, the car was media blasted and painted the original code D Acapulco Blue in base coat clear coat. All fiberglass is original from the factory. The left front fender was a NOS Ford. The left door was repalced with a very good used door. Front and rear bumpers and most all chrome was replaced at the time of restoration. There is some chrome on the interior that is deteriorated. The weatherstripping was replaced at the time of restoration. The interior carpet, door panels, dash bezels and front upholstery was replaced at the time of restoration. The rest is original and in great shape. It has a Lecarra Real Mahogany Shelby Style Steering Wheel which can be seen in the photos. Overall, the paint is excellent. There are a few flaws on close inspection. There are two light scratches on the RR quarter panel and one on the hood. All could be sanded and buffed out. The LR quarter panel has some bubbles near the wheel molding. The left door has a crack at the lower front corner where rust was cut our and then a coat of filler put over the new metal. None of this is obvious and must be pointed out to be noticed. The floor pans and frame rails are all original except the right front rail extension and battery pan, both of which were replaced. The rear floor pans are now starting to rust, although the rust is not major. Miscellaneous: The car originally had factory air. I have had the original compressor and mount reinstalled and the AC converted to R134A. The AC works great. The door windows have some scratches on them. The car is road ready and is licensed and registered in Georgia. These cars are increasingly rare and this car would be a great addition to any garage. The car is always garage kept and never sees rain. I relocated recently and the new house has significantly less garage space than the old house, so vehicle storage is an issue for me. The car is in the Atlanta, GA area. Terms: A $500 deposit via Paypal is due within 3 days of the close of the auction. The balance is due via cash or cashiers check within 7 days of the close of the auction. If using a cashiers check, it must be drawn on a bank with an office in the Atlanta area so that it can be validated at the time of transaction completion. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I have clear Georgia title.
