Vehicle Detail
This is a 1988 Ford Mustang Gt with a 302(5.0) litre engine and only 84K!! The engine is mostly stock, the only internal modifications are the factory stamped steel rocker arms have been replaced with Ford Motorsport (SVO at the time) billet aluminum, roller tipped rocker arms. They are anodized blue, although you can't really see them. On the outside I have added BBK equal length, polished, ceramic coated headers. They dump into a BBK X-pipe assembly and then into a Flowmaster road thunder muffler and tailpipes. Also it is worth mentioning that the exhaust has no catalytic converters, it was not street driven often. The ignition system has been modified for the Mallory tachometer, it has a shift light and a rev limiter which is adjustable on the tachomter. The only modifications to the cylinder heads is that they have been removed the ports cleaned and deburred, and a valve job was done with new valve guides seals and what not. Chrome plated aluminum valve covers were installed at this time. On the intake side of the engine, the factory 5.0 upper and lower manifold has been replaced with a Cobra upper and lower intake system. I also have added a large 70mm throttle body and a 65 mm mass airflow sampling tube. Prior to replacing the intake system I had retrofitted the stock "speed density" fuel injection system to the later "mass airflow" system. As far as external engine driven accessories, the factory AIR pump has been removed, so if you are in an emissions checked state, bear this in mind. The water pump has been replaced and the timing cover gaskets were replaced, along with a new timing chain and gears. At the same time I replaced the oil pan gasket and painted the oil pan to keep it from rusting. The power steering pump was replaced a while back, the steering gear also had started to leak and it got replaced too. The AC system has been drained of all the factory refrigerant oil and the system has been flushed and ester type oil and a proper R-134A retrofit was done. At that time the accumulator and hose assembly were also replaced. I have also installed a "high-side" cutoff which is nice for safety on r-134a systems. I rebuilt the manual transmission with new synchronizers, blocking rings and bearings. While I was at it, I replaced the clutch, pilot, and release bearing. I removed the factory plastic self adjusting quadrant, and replaced it with a billet aluminum adjustable quadrant. The rear axle has been overhauled with new bearings, a 3.55 ratio ring and pinion and new clutches in the traction-lok assembly. Both universal joints have also been replaced. The unit-body has been strengthend with a sub-frame connector brace setup. The rear suspensionn bears some new BBK tubular welded upper and lower control arms. At this time the coil springs were replaced with Eibach lowering springs. I also installed an air bag to the right rear coil spring to help with sag on hard launches. Another addition to the rear suspension was the HP-Motorsport "panhard" reinforcement brace. Also a strut tower brace is in place up front. Brakes are fairly new front and back, all the calipers and wheel cylinders have either been replaced or rebuilt, all new hardware is in place, axle seals are new. It is also worth mentioning that the brakes don't pulsate at all! It drives straight down the road with no pull. The tires have like new tread. The car was repainted back in 1997 after a minor hail storm, paintless dent repair (PDR) wasn't very popular yet, so the car received some body TLC and new paint was applied all around. The body is not perfect, but is in excellent shape. It looks awesome for its age! The sound system was replaced back in 1994 with a Alpine system CD player, and MTX subs and Amplifier, I will not go into detail on that, because it is a little dated anyways. But even for its age, it still pounds very hard!! The interior is in really nice condition with no rips, tears or stains on any the upholstery. It has 20% tint all around on the windows. No dings or major scratches and not even a little bit or rust> This car has been with me for 12 years. I really hate to see it go. However, as I approach 40 years old I feel as if it is time to move on and put my money elsewhere. It has been driven twice this year and once last year. It just sits in my garage with a cover over it. I start it up every month or so and let it run for about 30 minutes. If you want a car that gets up and moves, sounds mean and has been repaired all around and well cared for, then this is the car for you. I wax this thing a few times a year. I can't remember the last time in the last 5 years or so that this car even saw rain let alone a winter! Don't let it slip away!! A local pickup would be best. I will be more than happy to pick you up at the air port here in Omaha NE if need be. However, if you can afford to ship it, then I will add the cost of the shipping and you can make the PayPal payment for it and we'll get it put on the semi right away.
