Vehicle Detail
Used but not abused Chevy Silverado extended cab, short bed pick up truck. Silver exterior, dark gray interior. Cloth seats. 2 wheel drive. AC and heater work perfectly. CD, cassette, AM/FM radio also works fine. 140,270 miles. Most of the last 90,000 miles have been highway driving. I am the second owner. It has a 6.0L Vortec engine. Never been in an accident. I have gotten up to 15+ mpg on the highway when I wasnt towing anything. Towing my 10,000+ lb fifth-wheel on a calm day or drafting behind trucks, it gets about 9 mpg and into a headwind it gets about 7 mpg. Transmission is great and has no trouble pulling our heavy fifth wheel up and down hills/mountains. It has a towing package: Class III 2" square insertable hitch mount (hitch not included); 7 pin trailer wiring connector with a Kelsey electronic brake controller, the base rails for a Reese 5th wheel hitch mount (in the bed; rails are included, but not the hitch); and some kind of towing button on the gear shift that keeps the transmission from shifting up and down when you are cruising (I never used it). Everything works correctly and has no damage (except surface rust on the exterior parts). Back to the interior: velour seats. The back bench seat folds up or down, so you can haul stuff inside if you need a large space. The cloth on the front passenger seat and the rear bench seat is intact and in good condition. The driver's side is showing its age a bit. The seam on the door side has split in two places and the seat has about 10 burn holes from the previous owner's cigarettes. The driver's floor carpeting also has about 20 burn holes and is worn down to the fiberglass base next to the door (the wear and tear caused by getting in and out of the car). The truck does not smell like smoke, as I have owned it for 6.5 years. It took over a YEAR for the cigarette smell to go away after I bought it! I have also had dogs and cats in the car. I made a wooden platform for the back seat for the critters to sit on, rather than on the cushioned seat. You are welcome to have the platform if you want it. Its easily removeable for when you want to carry human passengers. Its also good for napping as its wider than the cushioned seat. OEM GM rubber floor mats for front and back are included. Has a sliding back window. All four side windows are protected by Ventvisors, so you can have the window open a little when its raining and the rain wont come in. There is also a Ventvisor across the entire back window. I did not receive an owner's manual when I bought the truck, but it is available on-line. I will include a copy on a cd. I will also include the Haynes repair manual that I purchased, and my service records. I faithfully changed the oil, filters, and performed routine maintenance regularly. The bed is 79" long. I painted it with one of those DIY liner paints a few years ago; much of the DIY paint is peeling off. The original silver paint was not damaged by application of the liner paint and it is not peeling. The bed is protected with a Roll n Lock brand retractable tonneau cover. The cover is still in great condition and keeps our stuff dry, except at the rear end where it meets with the gate. It does not meet well, so it leaks there. The cover is lockable and the keys are included. I'm not sure if it will lock as I haven't used it for years. You can travel with the Roll n Lock fully open, partially open, or fully closed. Truck has power windows (fronts only; the rear to only open a few inches with a latch), power steering, power door locks, tilt steering, AC, and is an extended cab with a third door on the passenger side. No rear door present on the driver's side. Front seats are bucket with a center console. Console has a locking lid and large storage area. Two drink holders are located in front of the console and a fold down section with two drink holders is located on the rear side for the reat seat passengers. There are two AC/heater vents on the rear of the console to address the comforts of the rear seat passengers. There is a ceiling counsole with two drop-down storage trays (for sunglasses, CDs etc) and a section to install a garage door opener. Two aircraft-style lights are also located in the ceiling console. There is an electronic compass in the rearview mirror. Dash gauges include: speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, water temperature, transmission pressure, and battery voltage, plus a push-button trip odometer. The in-dash computer system tells you when its time to change or check the oil and a variety of other engine issues. The truck has always passed the IEPA emissions testing. The truck has been kept outside and I have never had a problem starting it, even on the coldest mornings (-15F!). There are the normal amount of dings on the truck that you would except from an 11-year old vehicle. The driver's side was keyed one night. It is one long, intermittent scratch that stretches most of the length of the vehicle. Its annoyingly there, but not too obtrusive. There is a crease in front of the rear driver's side wheel well (i loaned the truck to my uncle and he cut a corner too short and nailed a parking garage card reader). I placed a pic of that in the listing. There is rust forming at the base of the cab sides above the running boards. It seems to be worse toward the rear of the cab. Again, pics are included. The engine runs well and has no known mechanical problems except the power steering line seems to have a leak. I have to fill up the reservoir occasionally and I can see leaked oil on the tubing and my driveway. But the power steering still works fine. There are OEM foglights, but both need to be replaced as the front lens glass has been broken by too many close encounters with snow banks in parking lots. They worked fine until the glass was broken and the bulbs got wet. Chevy issued a safety recall in 2006 regarding the tailgate support cables. I had those replaced by Chevy under the recall. Also, there was a recall regarding the front wheel speed/brake sensors and that was repaired by Chevy too. The head gaskets were replaced in 2007 There are two sets of matching tires on the truck. The Goodyear Wranglers have 42,000 miles on them. The Dunlops have 10,000 miles on them. The left tie rod assembly and upper control arm and ball joint were replaced at 75,000 miles (Jan 04). Four new Sensatrac gas-charged shocks were installed at 112,000 miles (Feb 06). New front disc brake rotors were installed at 130,000 miles (Jan 09). There is a crack in the front window on the lower passenger side. I've included a picture. The original jack and tire change equipment is included. I've also included four tie down clamp thingies that go into the stake bed holes. The stake bed holes are not fully accessible (i.e if you wanted to insert a rack or wooden posts into them) due to the rail for the tonneau cover. But they are partially open and the tie down clamps can be inserted into the holes and tightened. Includes a full size spare tire which is stored beneath the bed and is protected by a lock (same key as the ignition key). Includes two remote keyless entry fobs and numerous keys (originals and copies) for ignition/doors, console/glove box, and the Roll n Lock tonneau cover. Two final things. You may notice a little rust on the rear rug in one of the pics of the rear seat section. That is just a surface stain as I kept a metal pipe there which I used for leverage on my breaker bar. Also, the truck uses about one to 1.5 quarts of oil every 600 miles. It doesn't burn blue smoke and passes the emissions tests, but does use a bit of oil. I use 5W-30 High Mileage Vehicle Pennzoil oil. I've tried to describe my truck in best detail, including the known issues. If you have questions, please email me. If you would like to see the truck, you are welcome to do so. I live on the west side of OHare Airport in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Just email me to set up a visit. This has been an excellent truck for me. It has MANY more good miles left on it. Thanks for looking. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. NO SHIPPING.On Sep-15-10 at 07:30:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Two things to add to my description. Truck also has cruise control. I looked more closely at the scratch from when the driver's side was keyed. It does not run the entire length of the truck. It starts at the rear of the cab and goes to the front wheel well.
