Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1979 International Harvester Scout II which I purchased from a guy back in 2008 who had owned it for 10+ years. He put a lot of time and money into restoring it to mint condition, but unfortunately I hit a patch of black ice back in March of 2009 and rolled it. It definitely has some bangs and bruises which you can see in the pictures, but everything on it still works perfectly. There is minimal rust on the vehicle; I took a picture of the little rust that I found below the driver and passenger side doors. It usually cranks up on the first try, and if not all you have to do is tap the gas pedal and you'll be off and running. I was using it as my daily driver until the accident, and now all I've done is taken it up the mountain and around the area on trails. The front hubs are easy to lock and unlock, and this beast crawls over anything in four wheel drive. I took the doors off for the summer and have not had time to put them back on securely. I only put a few of the bolts in on both doors so you have to lift them a little when opening and closing, but I did save all the bolts if you decide to keep the doors. When I rolled it, the front side panels kind of squished the hood in tight, but I have since worked the metal out and now the hood latch releases the hood everytime you pull it. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the back window above the tailgate doesn't close securely. All of the lights on the vehicle work, including the turn signals. Stereo with cassette player and speakers work, but I can't pick up any radio stations. The front windshield is cracked and pushed out the passenger side a few inches, but the wipers suprisingly still work! The only other broken glass on the vehicle is the window on the passenger side door. The interior of this truck is in immaculate condition. All seats are original, but the fabric on the driver and passenger seats began tearing so I put some racing seat covers on them. The back bench seat is also original and it probably looks better than it did in '79! The interior of the roof held up pretty well, but there are some tears in the fabric on both the driver and passenger sides, and a crack in the plastic piece on the passenger side that goes around the windows of the roof. The A/C blows cold air with force and the defrost and heat work well, but take a little while to warm up. I have over $6000 invested in this vehicle, but I am prepared to take an enormous loss on this one. Let me know if anyone has any questions. Please only serious bidders. Happy bidding!
