This Cougar is an all Original Numbers matching Car. It is a 1971 Mercury Cougar XR-7 with a 351 Cleveland 2 Barrel and the FMX transmision. I am a Realtor who just recently purchased a Foreclosed home at a Sheriffs Sale and the Car was in the Garage. The Car was Purchased Brand new on November 10th 1971 by the Lady that owned the Home. The keys,Title and original Manual were still in the car. To the best of my knowledge this car had been sitting in the garage since 1989. the Tag and inspection were 1989 and the battery said 1986. The lady past away and it took awhile to get title to the Car.But I have a Clear Classic Car Title in my Name, But Basically this is a One Owner Car! I Drained the Tank and rebuilt the Carbuerator and the Car Runs and drives. The Engine and transmission Mounts have been replaced because the rubber had shrunk and the motor rocked inside the Carriage.The Car is tagged and insuranced and is Driveable but it needs to be restored. It still has the Sears Bias ply tires on it. The Interior,Vinyl Top and Sunroof are in Good Condition. It has a Small rust spot on the undercarriage by the rear Wheel. but it is not even noticeable unless you were looking for it. The body is very Straight ,Has one small door ding in back Quarter Panel. and all the Lights Work. the Engine needs to be tuned by an old school Mechanic, The Tach/Dwell and Timing are off and the carb is out of adjustment. I have tried to explain every detail about this Car That I know. I thought I was going to keep this and restore it myself but I neither have the Time nor the knowledge to do it. I think this car would make Some Cat Fans an Excellent Find. ,For the age it really is in good Condition.
