Vehicle Detail
I'm no longer in a position to own a second car for the summer, so I'm selling my '87 VW Cabriolet which I've had since 2000. The car has little rust, and I have never driven it on winter roads. This is a car with a website: http://cabriolet.sickmiller.com/ It's an old car, and it does have issues. Fifth gear doesn't work. The power steering leaks. It can burn oil when accelerating. The radiator seems cracked at the top. The car was originally white but a previous owner painted it black. Cruise control doesn't work, and the radio isn't hooked up. The odometer is broken -- when it reached 178,506, the rightmost digit stopped turning. Instead, the leftmost digit started turning! When it hit 878,506, it stopped for good. I am listing the mileage as 185,000 which is the best I can estimate. I haven't driven the vehicle much in the last few years. It started fine in the spring but wouldn't start for me yesterday. I suspect it's the battery or the gas -- I'm charging it up to see. Some notable repairs I've done (or had done) are replacing the top and the exhaust from the cat back. I'm sure I'm forgetting other work. I am including spare parts: - extra clutch cable (Not needed, but they seem to break every 5 years) - heater value - power steering hoses - starter (not needed) - oxygen sensor (if I can find it) Also including some special tools: - long-handled hex key for adjusting fuel mixture - oxygen sensor open socket On Sep-12-10 at 19:01:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Updated 9/12: It runs! I have installed a new battery and filled up the tank, and the car starts, runs, and idles great. After I added the new gas, the sound of the fuel pump changed -- perhaps it was clogged with old gas.
