The 280 SL has been a lot of fun for me for the last 12 years. I bought it from an estate, it had 62,000 miles on the od then. There was not any knowledge of the od having been turned over, I will not represent that it has or has not. I put new Michelins on it when I bought it. I drive it in the Summer only and it has been it the garage the rest of the time. I have serviced it regularly with the correct fluids and filters. I have not made any changes to it, just enjoyed it every time I took it out for a spin with the top on, the top off, or the cloth top up. You could pay for it and drive it away with confidence. The paint job I believe to be the original, just from what I see. There are small amounts of pitting on the front and various imperfections. Not to bad for a forty year old car that has been more than a garage queen. The transmission shifts with the usual german force, you can run all 4 gears manually when you need to. It will head straight down the road with your hands off the wheel, chirp the tires around a corner, turn heads with its throaty exhaust sound. I would not represent the exhaust system as original or correct. No leaks, just a nice deep sound. The cloth top is blue Mohair and in perfect condition. More pics on request. The following does NOT work or is INCORRECT. The heater controls,there are two to put on, you need all four. The clock always says 6pm. The radio antenna is incorrect. There is a small tear in the side of the drivers seat by the lever and small cracks in the pipping. The tool pouch is Not complete in the trunk. It has a new costco battery that starts it easy but looks small. I have never used the window washer. The left front headlight may have been replaced, you have to look hard and close to see a difference. I believe the car will afford someone as much fun as I have had with it at this resonable price. I hope who ever buys it enjoys the whole package before they tear it all apart. Or if you do a full frame off with it, you will have a great starting point. Within 48 hours from end of sale, a $500.
