Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. 5.0 Liter V8, Tuned Port Injection, 5 Speed with T-tops. I recently purchased this car for my daughter as a fixer-upper. After nearly finishing the fixing up she decided that she would rather have a Blazer. My loss is your gain. The car is in pretty good shape over-all. I have done quite a bit on it but it still needs some TLC. Here are the details as the car sits. The good: The car started off with some great attributes. It is a GTA which means electronic everything and performance suspension. All the power equipment works The Lights pop up like they should the seats move the windows roll down, etc. The guy that sold it to me claims that the engine was rebuilt and was driven less than 2,000 miles since. He also claimed that it had a new clutch. Since buying it I had to have the fuel tank acid treated and boiled out, so it is in like new condition. I installed a new fuel pump, fuel filter and brand new Bosch fuel injectors. The battery is also brand new. We drove the car once and it was crazy fast. The T-ops seal up very well and they are easy to take off and put on. I purchased replacement interior panels but did not get a chance to install them. They are included in the auction. I paid the registration fees through August 2011 but did not get the chance to have the smog checked, so that will still need to be done. The Bad: After the first test drive I discovered just a little too late that there was no fluid in the transmission. I actually melted every bearing in the thing and made it beyond repair. I purchased a used transmission and attempted to install it, only to realize that it was the wrong one (came out of a 6 cylinder not a v8) the worst part is that I gave the junkyard the original one as a core and now don’t have a transmission for this car at all. One good note about this is that I bought a new clutch kit and installed it, so essentially you will be getting two new clutches with the car. The Ugly: As you can see in the pictures the paint is pretty weather beaten as well as the back seats. There is one pretty obvious dent in the drivers side door (no creases so it may pound out fairly easy. The windshield is cracked and will need replacement. The rear spoiler is in pretty bad shape the guy I bought it from threw in a second one that is a little better and it is included in the auction. The car is in just the right stage for someone interested in getting a good deal on a solid project car. The one time I did get to drive it, it almost scared me to let my daughter drive it by herself. She even said it was a lot faster than she expected. I want to be completely up front about the vehicle so if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. The car is not perfect but has a lot of potential if you know what you are doing.
