Vehicle Detail

This is a great looking 1972 Olds 442 convertible!!! And it can be yours!! This great car has its original Olds Rocket 350 engine with its original TH-350 transmission. Both have been rebuilt by the previous owner and operate perfectly!! The paint is a repainted original color Olds "Bittersweet Copper" with gold carpet and brown leather seats. The 442 black stripes compliment the interior and black soft convertible top perfectly! (Yes, the top operates perfectly up and down!) Power steering with new front disc brake calipers and lines and rear drum brakes. All work great as well as the emergency brake! This great car also has Air Conditioning and it also works perfectly! This beautiful car has front bucket seats with console and a Hurst Dual-Gate shifter that shifts flawlessly. There is an aftermarket radio/CD player in the dash with front and rear speakers. It's great cruising with the top down and oldies blasting from the stereo! The car could use new seat covers and has its original door panel and kick panels. They are nice but are getting old. The paint is great but has a few marks/dings in it. There also are a few little imperfections in the sheet metal but they are definitely minor and really do not detract from the awesome looks of this car. It would not take much at all to make this beautiful car a show car! (If you buy this car with the "Buy It Now", I will include a replacement speedometer, an original Olds clock, new carpet, an original intake manifold, valve covers and a period correct carburetor.) Please look over the pictures and email me with any questions or if you would like additional pictures. (I have a BUNCH!!) PLEASE do not bid on this car if you don't have the money to pay for it. You also will have to put down a $1,000 deposit by Paypal when you win this auction. This car is really nice and gets compliments ALL the time. (You will have to learn to build in extra time every time you take it out because someone always wants to come see the car and tell you about his 442/Camaro/GTO that got away!) Just so you know, this car does not have any warranty, implied or otherwise. It is bought as is, where is. I can help you with shipping but the transportation of this car will be your responsibility. Added in response to MANY questions! (Thank you all for your interest!) - The black soft convertible top has no tears and the rear plastic window has no scratches and is clear. - This car was originally had a column mounted transmission shifter. It now has a floor, console mounted Hust "His and Hers" shifter. FYI: The backup lights are not hooked up through this shifter. The new speedometer (included if you "Buy It Now") is for the floor mounted shifter. - The car does not have power windows. - This car does have a glove box remote trunk opener that works great. - The Outside Air Induction (OAI) hood is fiberglass with two hood pins that rotate to lock (original style). I do not have the air cleaner OAI attachment apparatus/equipment. - The car currently has an ACCEL electronic ignition distributor in it. I do not have the original. - The car currently has Edelbrock valve covers, intake manifold, manual choke carburetor and air cleaner that come with the car. With a "Buy It Now" you get all the original equipment to get this car back to stock. - The underside is clean with no leaks. The frame rails are super solid with no sign of rust anywhere. In fact, this whole car has no sign of body rust anywhere!! It has always been garaged and never driven in the rain. - The transmission shifts rock solid and chirps the tires everytime it downshifts when you hit the four barrels! NICE! - This car is located in SE Houston TX. It has always been a southern car, as far as I know. I encourage all prospective bidders to ask as many questions as possible!! On Aug-08-10 at 15:53:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Also Added: Just a clarification for those who don't know or may have forgotten; ALL 1972 442 convertibles are technically Cutlass Supremes. (In 1972 Oldsmobile discontinued the 442 option from the factory). The 442 option was a local dealer installed option. That's why the glove box door on all 1972 442 convertibles reads Cutlass Supreme versus earlier years when it read 442. The car's title also lists it as a Cutlass/Cutlass S/Cutlass Supreme depending on type. (I have gotten few questions about this car's authenticity. I understand it does get trickier with 1972 442s than it was in earlier years.)On Aug-28-10 at 19:13:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Just a note: This car is also for sale locally. I reserve the right to cancel this ebay auction at any time if a local buyer purchases the car.
