Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1947 Willys CJ2A. Jeep is running everything is here and except for most of the wiring is all original. Tires are on 16" rims. Except for the spare they are all weather checked and need replacing. The body is pretty much rusted away, a previous owner had patched it with light weight sheet metal, screws and rivets. The bed and rear wheel wells are covered in diamond plate steel the frame has a lot of reinforcement plates welded on. There is a heater in this jeep that looks to be all there and in good shape but I've never hooked it up to check it out so can not say if it works or not. The engine runs well enough for as old as it is (I've not taken the time to run a compression check or give it a tune up) I ran it on the highway at 50mph for a short distance with out any problems. The 4 wheel drive and transfer case seem to work well but 2nd gear will not hold when you back off the throttle to slow down. The steering is pretty sloppy and I've not pulled off the wheels to check the brake linings though they are working. If they haven't been used in awhile you might need to pump them up to get solid braking. This is a civilian Jeep but was painted with a military paint job. I've owned it more more than a year now but have had little time to do much to it other than straightening out problems with the wiring, adding a new ignition switch, bleeding and doing a quick brake adjustment when I first got it. I've driven this Jeep around town quite a bit, short trips of 1 - 6 miles at a time, took it out on the highway to the next little town cruising along at about 45 mph (about a 18 mile round trip) and once around the loop here in town when I ran it up to 50. I've used this Jeep to tow my CJ5 back home after the electrical system shorted out and pulled a few small tree stumps with it. I've got too many projects and too little time, money or space for them all. This vehicle is being sold as is where is and is up for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel the auction anytime before the reserve is met. Buyer is responsable for all needed transportation costs and necessary paperwork. I am usually on the road Sunday through Friday but if you have questions please ask. My laptop has been doing strange things lately but I'll try to check my listings nightly. My cell phone # is 574-527-3873 if I don't answer leave a voicemail and I'll get back to you as soon as possible
