Vehicle Detail

1966 VW Beetle GOOD NEWS 1966 VW Beetle with a 1600 cc single port engine. Runs, shifts and drives nicely. Converted to 12 volt. Had a complete body off restoration around 5 years ago, so pans are solid and interior is nice. Interior paint is shiny and clean. 81700 original miles. Around 15000 miles on the engine. I will include a fairly new EMPI custom car cover with it. I have a clean, clear title in my name in hand, ready to go. It does run and drive well, so it could be used as a daily driver. I will include 4 fairly new tires with it, Firestone radials, with 75% tread left. The 1600 cc engine starts right up (although it has been sitting for a month, so it may need a boost the first time) and runs nicely. The transmission shifts smooth and quiet. The brakes are good and stop reliably. Windows all go up and down as they should. Everything works, although I have not used the radio in a while. The radio is an original 1966 VW Beetle radio. The seats are nice, could use a little cleaning, with no rips or tears. The headliner is intact and in good shape. The car was originally painted Ruby Red, but was repainted yellow during the restoration. It is VERY difficult to tell that it was repainted, they did such a nice job. It was painted to match New Beetle Yellow from 2001 or so. The glass, as far as I can tell, is all original with no breaks, chips or cracks. The wheels are all the original 1966 type with the chrome hubcaps. The hubcaps are in good condition. All chrome moldings are original and in place with only minor dings in a couple of places. Other than the rust, there are no body dents. NOT SO GOOD NEWS This car was completely restored and then left outside. So, rust has appeared around the bottom of the doors and rear quarter panels. You can get the repair panels from JC Whitney and easily fix these areas. A hundred bucks and a weekend's work should make this a $5000 vehicle. There are a couple of 2" or less rust spots that can be filled when you fix the other spots. The bumpers are a bit rusty, but mostly still chrome. Minor dents on the bumpers. One running board is fairly new and the other needs replacement. I have a new set that can be had for a good price (I will include them if bidding tops $2200). The chrome tailpipes are rusted away. I will also include a brand new pair if bidding tops $2200. If not, we can negotiate a price if you want them. COME SEE IT It will be available for viewing August 23 - 29 (email for appointment). It will be available for pickup August 30 and 31; September 13 - 17. I would advise towing or trailering it, since it has not been run in a few months and the good tires are not installed. I have a few more pics that I could email.
