Vehicle Detail
This car was purchased new in Oroville, California and has spent its entire life in the same state and the same family. Purchased by a great aunt and driven by her until 1967 when it was inherited by my grandmother and driven until 1973 until inherited by my mother. She drove the car daily until about 1986 when she bought a new car and loaned the Rambler to me as a daily driver until about 1995. When I purchased other transportation the Rambler was parked in a garage. In 1997, it was registered non-op status with the CA DMV. In 2000, I inherited the car, took it out of the garage, tuned it up, changed the oil, drove it six miles to my house and parked it in my garage. Unfortunately, time flies and I just left it there until this summer when I realized it has been in my garage for 10 years and I do not intend to use it. I decided to get it running again and sell it, so I pushed it out of the garage, drained the old gas and oil and replaced them with fresh fluids, installed a new fuel pump and a rebuilt carburator, and battery and it started right up. Then I put it on jack stands, pulled all the wheels and checked the brakes. There is a lot of pad left on the brake shoes. I installed two new wheel cylinders, flushed out the old fluid, greased the bearings, put the wheels back on and it stops like a non-power, all drum brakes car. However it has been sitting on the same tires for about 15 years and they should be replaced. They hold air and have a lot of tread, but they are cracked and well, old. The car is complete with all chrome, emblems, glass, hub caps, original jack and spare. The front windshield has a small stone chip and there are various dents and scrapes as indicated by the pictures. The paint is cracking and faded and would have to be repainted by anybody who cares about that. On the other hand, you don't have to worry about parking it at the mall and somebody dinging the door. I don't see any underside or panel rust except some surface rust where the paint is worn out. The underside has the rust coating that was commonly sold in the 60's. The interior is in good shape with only the driver's side sun visor missing its cover. Overall, for the cost of a new set of tires, this car could be a daily driver again and cheap transportation for someone. It is simple to work on and parts are readily available both online and at local parts stores. Obviously, this 46 year old car is sold as-is. It can be seen in the San Gabriel Valley of California. We can start it up and drive it up and down the driveway, but I am not taking it on the streets with its 1997 license tags and no insurance. Email any other questions you may have. Buyer to pay by Paypal at the close of the auction. The buyer must arrange shipping/delivery within 7 days. There is a low reserve, less than the cost of a good bicycle. Don't be afraid to bid.
