1999 G500 Cabriolet convertible. NO KNOWN PAINTWORK or ACCIDENTS, 65k miles. I am the 2nd owner of this car since it was imported by Europa into the US. If you know this truck, you know it is one of less than 100 that have been imported into the US. I purchased it in 2008 after looking forever. At the time of purchase, I had the truck inspected by SGS Automotive Services. Their inspection indicated no paintwork or other previous damage. The car was also inspected (mechanically) by Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills. Again, no issues noted. When the car was new it sold for over $130,000 including the importation and federalization costs. This car is a 50-state legal conversion. It is fast, fun, and about as rare a vehicle as you can get. The truck is being listed with a low starting price and NO RESERVE. I believe the cost to federalize a G-wagen is my starting price. Note: Listing shows year of vehicle as 1900. Because this truck was privately imported into the US, the VIN numbers provided by the DOT do not match what EBAY expects. So, to list it, with the correct VIN, the model year is listed as 1900. THE GOOD: The truck is in good condition cosmetically, and in excellent condition mechanically. Everything works. Hydraulic top operates perfectly, as does everything else on the car. I recently had the “A” service done at the local Mercedes dealer. Their inspection noted no issues outstanding. There have been less that 400 miles driven since that inspection. I replaced the battery with a Mercedes battery this spring. Interior is in nice condition as well. THE BAD (not so bad): There are some paint chips on the windshield frame consistent with the G-class. (The upright nature of the windshield invites rock chips.) Nothing major, but I like to disclose everything. There was also a door ding on the lower passenger door that was touched up with “touch-up” paint. Not a perfect fix, but acceptably done. When the battery was replaced, the Webasto auxiliary heater control reset itself, so it is blinking “12:00” like an old VCR. J I haven’t figure out how to reset the time yet. Also, while the top is in excellent condition, both rear side windows that are plastic (and sewn into the top) have slight cracks at the edge. This is caused by the folding of the top. (the windows fold in half when top is lowered.) No big issue, just trying to describe everything. TERMS: $1,000 deposit due via PayPal or Certified Check within 72 hrs. So, just to be clear, this is an 11-year old G500 Cabrio with 65,500 miles. It is not new. But it is in very nice condition for it's age and miles. If you're looking for a BRAND NEW G500 Cabrio, import one. But, expect to pay north of $140,000, and expect to get the federalization finished in 2012 or 2013.
