Here is a 1973 Jeep J4000 Gladiator 4x4. From what I can find this is classified as a heavy half ton, but this truck has a Dana 60.5 rear axle, (60.5 is AMC's verson of the Dana 60). The axles have 5 lugs but are spect out to be 3\4 ton axles. The front axle is a Dana 44. I lifted this truck about 10 years ago. No off road company makes a lift kit for this year of jeep truck so I had the springs re arched and 2" blocks in the rear. The front were re arched and 2 more springs added. The tires are 35" Toyo MT, and let me tell you these are super quiet on the highway. I had the original 360 rebuilt with a 401 crank and rods so it"s basicaly a "stroker". I belive the displacement is about 376 cid. The only thing I wish I would have done is put the Edlebrock intake on it. I still get about 12 mpg at 65 mph. The closest I can tell it has about 200,000 origonal miles on it. The only rust to talk about is on the bed where the floor meets up with the walls.
