Hello VW lovers young and old. I have here a 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible that is a life long California car going NO RESERVE . Before we go any further we ask all serious bidders to read ad in it's entirety and to check back over the next 5 days for additional pictures and videos of the car running and driving . Please take the time to check out our excellent feedback on beetles. Ok lets get to the car and keep this short and sweet. You can check out my feedback as I'm very honest with the descriptions and talk the beetles down rather then someone disappointed.This car has California Current Registration till 2011 and doesn't need to be smogged ever in the state of California but I do have all it's smog records where it did pass . I have in the past went out of my way to help new buyers and all I ask is to paid promptly and no silly tire kicking after you bought the item. This is an auction and needs to be treated like one. You are bidding on a well maintained 74 super beetle with many years of service records which I will picture and video tape. Below I will give you a list of new or replaced parts over the years. You are not buying a worn out beetle but no where near a show car. This has a rebuilt 1600 cc motor and when I say rebuilt I don't mean a set of rings. This has a replacement engine and everything is new including the block 5,000 miles ago. The transmission was removed from my low mileage 75 beetle and has less then 5,000 miles on it. The car runs and drives excellent and needs nothing mechanically . It also has expensive tires with only a couple thousand miles on them . This car does not have any rust anywhere including the floor pans, battery tray or heater channels . Also this does have newer shocks front and back and new brakes all the way around including the brake line running in the middle of the car. Ok to sum this car up This has new paint meaning it just came out of paint Today not a week, a month or a year ago but no crazy expectations. This is not a show condition paint job but you can read a newspaper off the door it is so shiny and gets lots of looks.The top and headliner are aging with small tears but I believe it would not leak and have a new one ordered that will be installed as soon as it shows up for the new owner, it should be here before the end of auction . The mileage on this car is unknown mileage on the engine is roughly a little over 5,000 and mileage on the transmission is 5,000. Replaced steering box ,replaced brakes,replaced front struts,replaced all tie rod ends and control arm bushings total $730.98 new starter , replaced handbrake cable and tune up $329.30 replaced Speedo , replaced master cylinder and other misc $258.74 replaced alternator,replaced bosch with built in voltage regulator , test system $377.41 kyb gas struts , bushings,coil springs ,heads removed , checked and other repairs $1,242.85 and the most recent on 6/21/10 scope engine , adjust timing,new spark plugs , air filter , points and fuel filter , adjust valves and change oil $181.07 there is an additional receipts totally well over $15,000 including all oil changes and every tune up this car has had These are expenses over the years dating back to 1986 with the receipts . Anything that was wrong with it was fixed at a Volkswagen Specialist . This is not one that has been sitting behind someone's house and has 2 inches of gunk in the tank and the brakes don't work and the steering wobbles you off the road. This is a good running and driving car. When removing the front windshield for paint it did break. I can have a new one installed or I can take off $200.00 from the final bid and you can do it yourself. This car is being sold as is and all sales are final and you are buying 36 year old car well maintained but used.
