Vehicle Detail
I bought this DR-Z 400S dual sport 5-14-10 in North Dakota. It's mileage today is 3404 but could be slightly higher at time of sale. I encourage you to see the Motorcycle Consumer News article on this model, see the link below: http://www.mcnews.com/mcn/model_eval/2010JuneDRZ400S.pdf This evaluation is what made me get the bike in the first place. While it's lived up to the hype, it's simply not the bike for us. As an example, while it has been on gravel Forest Service roads, I've never actually ridden it off road. I simply don't need a bike this capable off road if I never go there. So, as I often do, buy high/sell low. The bike is completely stock. We took it on a trip to the Black Hills and Big Horn mountains which accounts for the lion's share of it's miles. I found it reasonably comfortable on long days but the AirHawk seat cushion was helpful. A little more wind protection would have been nice as well but that's not the nature of the beast in this catagory. We consistantly got 50+MPG but we don't ride at 80MPH either. When I washed it up for sale I discovered that one of the bar end weights was missing. This will be ordered tonight and replaced before the bike leaves here, or mailed to the winning bidder. Installation is a simple tightening of the phillips screw head. As to what happened to it, it's somewhere in a ditch between here and Wyoming. The bar end weight assembly is ordered and I'm hoping it will be here by the end of the week. The bike has been maintained by myself. The usual Amsoil changes and regular chain lube. I've not touched the air filter or valves. It has not ever been tipped over. I can see some very minor rub marks on various plastic parts, I assume from the soft luggage we strapped onto it. Not significant but there nonetheless. I looked up the Kelly Blue Book and NADA values last night. KBB lists average retail of $3990 while NADA shows suggested retail value of $4095. Given how clean the bike is, I feel the price I've set is more than fair. I only accept down payment with paypal verified. The remainder of the balance cash upon pick up of the bike.. No payment via paypal using credit cards except for the down payment. Local pick up only, I don't want to sell something like this shipped. There's the usual "If you don't intend to buy, don't bid" disclaimer. If your feedback is sparse or less than perfect, call me before bidding. Basically, I've been completely honest about the bike and expect the same from a buyer. My preferred method of contact is email or phone. My email is waltgary and that's at the google mail (@gmail.com). I will try and check email daily but some days may not be able to. My phone is the two one eight area code and 780-four three 85. I do go to bed early. The bike will be for sale locally so it's possible I may end the auction early unless someone uses the Buy It Now function. Thanks for looking. gary
