Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE In Japan, the car (the 240Z) was still known as the Fairlady to keep in line with past Nissan sports cars; Katayama (Yutaka Katayama, President of Nissan USA) fought furiously to have all American badging replaced with "240Z" and refused all dealers to receive cars until he had done so." The 240 Z started production in october 1969 as a 1970 modle year. It was being built along the new body styled Fairlady Z. There are several major differences between a 240 Z and a Fairlady Z. It would take more than a simple "badge swap" to change them. Each car was built for a specific market, each planned way in advanced. For example the 240 Z got left hand drive and the Fairladys got right hand drive, the Fairlady also got a smaller engine at 2000 CC due to tax reasons in Japan and the US version got a 2400 CC engine. There was also several options on the Fairlady you could not get on a 240Z The ID plate is also different between the US and Japan cars, each having different prefixes in the VIN. The Japan version also got its mirrors on the fenders, the US cars on the doors. So the two cars have 90 percent of the same parts with slight differences depending on where they were shipped. This Fairlady Vin: SPL31124430 was previously owned by Jack Nye passed away and left the car to his niece. The niece is offering this rare sports car.
