1996 Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty 4x4 Cummins Turbo Diesel This is a great opportunity to buy a true heavy duty truck with diesel engine at an affordable price. There are not many trucks like this that are still in good shape. This is a 12 valve V8 5.9 liter engine. These are highly sought after since Dodge started using 24 valve engines shortly after this truck was produced. Don't let the mileage worry you. Cummins diesel engines have been known to run up to a million miles (no joke). I am selling it with some hesitation - my wife has convinced me that it is not a family friendly vehicle and now that we have two kids and are working on a third, I'm having more trouble defending my position. The truck was "wrecked" in 2009 and given a "salvage" title. A friend of mine who rebuilds Dodge Trucks as his retirement job bought the vehicle and fixed it up. I purchased it from him just before my wife got pregnant again. The carfax report indicates that the tranny was replaced at 44,012 miles but there appears to be a newer tranny on the truck currently, so maybe this is tranny #3 - can't say for sure. I can say that the transmission seems good and I don't detect any issues relating to a poor or failing transmission. The engine is original and still great.
