Vehicle Detail

**RESERVE REMOVED - MUST SELL** Alright folks, here is your chance to own a piece of Mercedes-Benz history. The 190e 2.3-16v cosworth was imported for two years only in limited quantities (approx. 2000 units.) Now there are a few of these floating around; most are nice, bust the majority of cosworths have been beaten to hell by drivers who do not respect the rarity of these amazing cars. The car is amazing to drive. From its sprite, high-revving, extremely well-tuned 4 cylinder that will surprise to its 5-spd dogleg transmission. These cars were meant to be out on the open highway at high speeds, just don't tell your local patrolman I said so. At 23 years old this German machine still impresses. Now to the car specifics: - True mileage is unknown. I bought the car under the impression that the speedo was correct at approx. 60,000 mileage, but I found out (the way you won't have to) that the odometer is not functional and is not correct. To be honest, I was understandably upset when I found out, as I paid a nice amount for this car, but I got over it quite quickly considering that the car runs like a dream. I drove it from Las Vegas to New York without a problem. The car has spent its previous life on the west coast (Arizona, California, and Nevada), and has only come to the east coast about a year and a half ago. Upon discovering the factory maintenance booklet I learned that the last entry was in 1997 at 97,192 miles. With further investigation, about a year and a half ago, I got a carfax for the car and learned that the mileage was definately up there, I would estimate it to be at around 200,000 miles now. But I must say the car runs without flaw. There is nothing like a nice, long drive in a 2.3-16. - At 23 years old the car has normal wear and tear, as well as road rash. But it still looks great and sexy. Take note of the pictures, they speak a thousand words. There are a few spots where the paint has given way. There is one major dent (although not even close to major) on the driver's side rear door. Behind that on the driver's side rear quarter panel there is a strange split in the paint, but it is not that noticeable. Anyway, all things considered this car is sweet for its age. - As far as I know, just about all the major aspects of this car are factory except for the wheels I had put on. The car came with late 80's AMG wheels with it when I bought it, but as I was driving it back from Las Vegas, a pothole in Pennsylvania took the life of one of them and I had to put on one of the hideous chrome Foose rims that the car also came with to get home to NY. But the clean, sleek five stars that I had put on with MB centers compliment the overall aesthetic of the car. - As stated in the maintenance booklet the car has had a steady diet of Castrol 20w50, and I have kept that up, changing the oil and filter about every month (since the ODO doesn't operate properly). I don't mind though, having a car like this means taking care of it. This is a gem people, a really nice car. - The interior is very nice. The leather is respectably worn with one major split, as shown in the pictures. The headliner is near perfect. The rest of the seats are in great condition. The carpet is fantastic, protected by floor mats that are in good condition. The back seat mats are a bit discolored, but they are simply doing their job. - All windows work perfectly except for the driver's side rear window, which will need a new motor. I have had it repaired once but the gears in the motor need to be replaced. - The tires are about a year and a half old with plenty of tread left. - The car's battery is about two months old. - For the US edition, these cars came in two colors, black and smoke silver. This car is a smoke silver edition, it appears like a goldish silver in person. It really is beautiful. - So, overall, this car is not perfect (what 23 year old car is), but have your ever done something really nice for yourself, or someone else, and had that ear-to-ear grin on your face... yeah, this is it... if you don't know what I mean, keep searching ebay for... I don't know, maybe some kind of Volvo P something or other... - If you want to learn more about the 2.3-16v Mercedes, you could simply google it to read more of its pedigree, but for you internet-handicapped let me help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W201 http://www.worldcarfans.com/102110111582/1986-mercedes-benz-190-e-23-16v http://www.complex.com/blogs/2010/03/02/classic-car-mercedes-benz-190e-2-3-16/ http://www.mb190e16v.com/Templates/Mercedes_the%20car%20body.htm http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1983-1988-mercedes-benz-190e-23-16.htm If there are any questions please let me know.
