Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 'Canary Orange' 1975 Ford F-250 Highboy Pickup Truck. As with all older vehicles, the concern is what's not right about it, so I'll start there: 1) Instrament lights: All of the gages work fine, they just don't light up at night. 2) The horn doesn't work. What needs work: 1) Transmission: The transmission is a little rough, and could use some work. It has a tendancy to grind sometimes going into 3rd. Also it can take a little work to get into first and reverse (easing the clutch out while shifting to get the gears to line up works.) 2) The starter: Sometimes when turning the key you get some grinding. Releasing the key and trying again will almost always be problem free. Once the starter engages, the truck fires right up. 3) Brakes: They feel a little soft. They work fine (I have had to lock up the tires once), but the first time you drive it, they will feel soft. Pumping the pedal helps. Some maintenance would probably help. 4) The tailgate: One side sticks. The mechanism inside of the tailgate is loose, and one side won't release. (A flathead screwdriver will do the trick.) What's right with the truck: Everything else! All of the turn signals, brake lights, head lights, winshield wipers, etc. function fine. Even the AC (yep, factory AC in this one!) It blows cold, and works well. Also the AM/FM/ CD Radio (obviously not stock) works well. What's great about this truck: 1) The engine! Stock the truck came with a 360, but it has recently been replaced with a refurbished Ford 390 engine. The new engine has about 18 months left on it's unlimited mileage warranty. It was professionally installed at a certified Ford dealer by a professional mechanic. Included with your purchase will be the paperwork from the engine. The new engine has less than 5000 miles on it. 2) The 4 Wheel drive! Stump puller? Rock Crawler? Friend's Chevy stuck in the mud? ;-) This truck's 4x4 drive works very well, and it pulls HARD! Other notes: Included is the original owner's manual and the original bill of sale! This model transmission doesn't have a syncronized 1st gear (you can't downshift into 1st until you come to a complete stop). There's nothing wrong with it, in 1975 it was just made that way. It also has a painted (sprayed?) on bed liner. This is a highboy model, and has the 'Ranger XLT' plate on the glovebox. Shipping: Buyer is responsible for getting the truck home, but I will help as I can. If you're close to the Greesnboro, NC area, I could meet you halfway somewhere. Or if you find a shipping company, I'd be happy to drive it to the local depot for pickup. Of course if you'd like, you can drive or fly out and drive it home yourself. Feel free to contact me with any questions, and I will get right back to you. Thank you for reading my auction, and good luck!
