Only 97 1999 convertibles were ordered with the ultra-desirable Z51, N73, JL4 and 6 speed transmission combination. My point to all of this? This is a rare and, except for the lack of the F45 Selective Real Time option, maximum optioned car. Don’t forget that 1999 Corvettes came standard with a 345 horse power V8 engine, power windows, power door locks, power heated mirrors, cruise control, leather wrapped tilt steering wheel, leather interior, traction control, dual air bags, anti-theft ignition, halogen headlights, traction control, anti-lock 4 wheel disc brakes, tire pressure monitoring system and more. EXTERIOR COSMETIC CONDITION: Gorgeous. The black finish is absolutely flawless, flawless. flawless. Over the entire exterior of the car there isn’t a single stone chip, scratch, blemish or issue. The car literally looks like it’s been dipped in molten black glass. The car has been exposed to rain 3 times in its‘ life. It was always garaged at night. INTERIOR COSMETIC CONDITION: The interior is in as new condition and wear or tears are non-existent. The seats, headliner, dash, door panels, factory floor mats look like brand new. The car has never been smoked in. The lighter and ash tray are untouched. The air conditioning is ice cold and works on all settings including “MAX“. The heater is fully operative, and all fan speeds work perfectly. Every outside running light and dash light is operative. The never used cigarette lighter works. Even the interior courtesy lights work right down to the ones in the luggage compartment and glove box. The headlights operate perfectly as do the windshield wipers/washer, parking brake and power windows. All of the gages including engine oil, water temperature, gas, speedometer, tachometer, battery voltage, etc.) work perfectly. CLOTH TOP CONDITION: The black cloth convertible top is in brand new condition. So new that it still beads water when the car is washed. CLEANLINESS: The interior, engine compartment, under carriage and wheel wells look completely and utterly new. The car has only been caught in the rain 3 times in its’ life. WHEELS & TIRES: 4 brand new factory OEM Goodyear Eagle F1 Extended Mobility (run-flat) tires were installed 100 miles ago. The receipt is present and is included with the car. The fantastically rare optional factory magnesium wheels are in utterly new condition. There is not a single flaw on them anywhere. Stick-on wheel weights are in use rather than the damaging “hammer-on” type weights. MECHANICAL CONDITION: This Corvette is in as new mechanical condition; running, shifting, handling, stopping and accelerating like a nearly new car. Every power accessory works properly, every dash light illuminates, every switch and button operates correctly. The car has been dealer serviced and has received Mobil 1 oil changes since new. This is a reliable, reliable Corvette. All service is completely up to date and the car is not subject to any recalls and, in fact, with this auction in mind I just took it to Classic Chevrolet in Orlando, Florida where they checked the car over thoroughly. There’s absolutely no fluid leakage underneath the car. The brakes are perfect, the A/C ice cold, the car cool running, electrical issues are non-existent and there are no known problems or issues whatsoever. I’ve owned dozens of Corvettes over the years and this 1999 is the most squeak-free, wind noise-free, rattle-free, problem-free, superb handling, quiet, comfortable, smooth-riding Corvette I’ve driven in years. This is a reliable, reliable Corvette. ORIGINALITY: My Corvette has always been Chevrolet dealer serviced with factory GM parts from day one. So stock is the car that it carries a new dealer installed Delco battery and, of course, 4 brand new Goodyear Eagle 1 $1,300 super-car tires. The original owner’s manual is present as is the original VHS Owners Information video tape, window price sticker, cargo net and many pieces of factory maintenance and use literature. A 1999 Corvette dealers glossy sales brochure and original cargo net are also present as are 2 keys and 2 remote key fobs. Running, Driving & Handling: Extraordinary. The car has perfect alignment, handles exceptionally and evidences no steering box wear so the car doesn't wander and has zero steering wheel ‘play‘ or vagueness. It drives and handles like a well cared for car should. On the interstate at 75 mph my Corvette is solid, unwavering and utterly stable. It tracks straight and doesn’t feel light and twitchy like so many less well cared for Corvettes that I test drove before I purchased this one. Certainly, as I’ve indicated, this is a function of a solid steering box but it’s also a function of my very correct and unworn front end. Ball joint, tie rod, bushing and power steering unit condition make or break these cars when it comes down to driving enjoyment. This Corvette has astonishing power, the automatic transmission shifts perfectly and the new brakes are superb and stop straight, fast and true. Simply put: it is in the sort of very good to excellent condition that you’d expect from a car with far fewer miles. There are no squeaks or rattles even at speed over rail road tracks. This is a very, very solid Corvette that runs and drives as well now as when it was new. It’s been a cared for car.
