Vehicle Detail

1966 Impala 4 dr Sedan 3 owners, (1966-1981, 1981-2003, 2003 - present) Dark Blue with Light blue interior. Appears to have been garaged all its life. 283 / 3 speed manual, no options (manual everything, no radio, small hub caps) Completely stock and original. 121K miles Runs very smooth. Smokes a little at start-up, then it's fine. Shift linkage is fairly tight for a column shift. Pulls to left after brakes warm up (solution is to have brake shoes machined to exactly match diameter of drums. Will need to find a shop that knows old cars for this) Clutch chatters a little bit; some extra rpm at takeoff helps. All lights work. Goes down the road nice and straight, and is reasonably well controlled for a big old marshmallow. Tires are old and worn down to wear indicators, but no obvious dry-rot. All original paint and still shines. Straight, well aligned panels, many door dings, Rust: 3" x 4" spot on drivers fender, silver dollar sized spot behind rear wheel, dime sized spot on rear door, pass fender starting to bubble, pass qtr looks solid. Solid rockers and frame. I think there is one very small hole in the floor, but I can't find it now. Solid trunk but with some surface rust under the mat. 1/2" hole drilled in top of pass qtr for radio antenna installed by owner #2 (I've removed the radio and re-installed the radio block-off plate). Crack in windshield, but it hasn't grown since I've had the car. Inside of trunk is like a time capsule. Spare tire might be original. Jack looks nearly new. Interior is very nice. Original dash pad with no cracks, Original seat covers with no rips / tears (light fading on top of rear seats). Original headliner looks great, minor stains on sail panels. Door panels look great. Professionally refinished arm rest bases look like new. New package tray (Old one was in good shape but cut for speakers). Professionally refinished steering wheel looks great. Dash is all original and looks very nice except for typical scrape marks from key chain. Carpet is original with no tears, but could use a good cleaning in drivers area. Windlace is tattered. Quarter sized tear on back side of drivers seat, about half way down. Clock works briefly if you tap it; everything else works fine. Chrome looks very nice and straight. Quarter sized dent on rear bumper. Side trim has some small dents, but looks better than most. Not cloudy. Bright stainless trim around the doors and front / rear glass is perfect. On Jul-29-10 at 18:50:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Adding the following note on Thursday, 7/29: Pictures were taken a while ago. Car differs from photos as follows: 1. Radio has been removed and block-off plate has been reinstalled. This was noted in my original description above. 2. Clear plastic cover over carpet has been removed. 3. Steering wheel and arm rest bases have been professionally refinished, as noted in main description above. 4. Most of the paint is missing from the valve covers. This happened when I cleaned the engine.
