Vehicle Detail

This is a 1967 Fiat 850 Spyder with the hard-to-find covered headlights. Note that this is a parts car, does not have an engine or transmission, and does not have a title. It was last titled in Minnesota. Perhaps you can get a new title issued for it - I don't know how that works. The most valuable part of the car is probably the front covered headlights, which were only made for this model year. They appear to be in very good condition. The lenses are not cracked or broken, and the chrome is rust-free and undented. The only negative thing I could see about the headlights was that the black paint that you see (when looking into the headlights) was peeling. I assume this could easily be repainted. Please note the following negative things: The engine and transmission are missing. The seats are not original - they appear to be seats from a "regular" car that have been bolted in. The underside of the car is rusted through in many places. The floor has been patched with thin sheet metal by a previous owner. The frame crossmember "X" under the car is rusted out in several places. The master brake cylinder doesn't work. It sat outside for two years with the top down in Minnesota. The back end is dented in, as if someone pushed it with a truck too hard. The convertible top fabric is shot, and the metal top frame needs to be repaired. The metal piece that is sewn into the back of the top and engages the car is missing. The gas cap is missing. The tires don't match. The rear taillights are missing, and have been replaced with generic lights. It has no title. Still interested? Here's the bright side: As mentioned earlier, the front headlights are in great shape. There are four matching hubcaps that snap onto the wheels, although I think only 3 of the wheels were ones that would accept them. The hubcaps do have some surface rust and little holes in them. The convertible top frame is broken, but can be welded back together. It is in the same shape as the one on my working Fiat was when I first got it. I welded it, sandblasted and painted it, and now it looks and works great. I am not a body man, but it appears that the front fenders, hood, etc are in good overall shape. I notice that there appears to be some bondo on the left door and rear fender. The rear bumpers are in tough shape, but the front ones should be usable after a little work. The window glass is all present and unbroken. There is a window regulator only on the passenger side, but it works fine. The gauges are all in surprisingly good condition, and I assume they all work. The emergency brakes work! PLEASE NOTE: The photos show the car with a gas cap, and an emblem on the glove box door, but these two items have been sold separately. Sorry for any confusion on this. Additional photos can be seen at www.flickr.com/photos/jtman ALSO NOTE: Since there has been interest in just selling the headlights, the winning bidder has the option of either hauling away the entire car, or just taking the headlights. I can ship the headlights (shipping charges would apply), but not the entire car. If you wish to purchase the entire car, it is your responsibility to to transport it yourself. (I rented a two-wheel car dolly from U-Haul for under $50.) Thanks for looking!
