These cars were the first luxury diesels to hit the market, and represented a bold move for Mercedes-Benz that paid off - their popularity exceeded any expectations. This remarkable car was owned in California and Florida, and has no rust issues of any kind, either underneath or on the body. It has low original mileage, an excellent CarFax history, with everything working as it should, and mechanicals in excellent health. The exterior finish is immaculate, and was recently redone to address mild fading that's normal for Florida cars - the car was disassembled for painting, and the professional job was done to quality standards. Please see photos to see how clean and solid it was prior to the refinish. The trim, lights, lenses and moldings are in excellent condition, and the wheels are immaculate with good tires all around. The car looks absolutely remarkable outside for a 1982 model, and gets appreciative attention. In addition, the low mileage and careful ownership are apparent in the way the doors, hood and trunk open and close, with the solid sound from the doors sounding more like a bank vault than an automobile - this car was built to classic Mercedes-Benz standards, when dedicated engineers ran the company instead of accountants.The interior is in excellent age-relative condition, with the original leather seats showing no obvious wear, the wood gleaming with only very mild imperfections, and the trim and panels looking tight, new, and proper all around. The shift knob and steering wheel show no obvious wear, and the dash is clean and nice with only a hint of sun fatigue toward the front. The headliner is nice and tight, the windows seal as they should, and all of the electricals are working properly, including the large factory sunroof. The frameless window glass is a nice design touch, leaving a giant opening when the front and rear windows are down. The factory Becker radio is still there and working well.Mechanically, this coupe is in excellent health, with the big turbo diesel motor running well and delivering smooth power with plenty of boost. The transmission shifts well, and the steering and suspension are nice and tight with excellent road feel. It has been freshly serviced by our Bosch-Certified repair shop, and is ready for immediate use as a dependable daily driver. These diesels are very efficient, with gas mileage exceeding 20 in the city, and 30 on the highway. The car is an absolute treat to drive.If you are looking for a top-of-the-scale W123 survivor for rugged use or weekend fun, this would be an excellent choice. It is far and away the nicest example of a 300CD I've seen in many years, and is ready for whatever you want to throw it.
