Original owner 1997 FZJ-80 Land Cruiser Last model year for the 4.5L inline 6 cyl 1FZ-FE engine (one of the most reliable and dependable gas engines and associated drive trains ever made)I originally purchased this ‘cruiser in Dec of 1996 with the goal of having a “10 year” vehicle. I had first experienced the Land Cruiser (FJ40) when I was in college in the mid-70's and on a month-long safari trip in eastern Africa. The ‘cruiser had the reputation of being virtually indestructible, and when something broke you fixed or replaced it and it kept on running for additional hundreds of thousands of miles. I not only achieved my “10 year car” goal, but this ‘cruiser exceed my wildest expectations. It was my daily driver for over 13 years, along with several long road trips (to/from colleges and soccer tournaments), and allowed me to navigate bad weather (esp snow, ice) and bad road conditions (including once in mud over a foot deep using the locking diffs) that most other cars and trucks couldn’t. Why do I share this? I want her next owner to understand what THIS ‘cruiser has meant to me and my family.Right now, she’s a bit sick and needs work and tender-loving care that I’m not currently able to provide – I’ll cover that in a moment. But first, here’s what she’s got:6cyl inline gas engineAWD (4WD), with H/L options; 2nd gear start optionlocking differentials (factory installed)All power options – windows, locks, side mirrors, front driver and passenger seat controlsLeather seats and trim16” alloy wheels w/ Michelin LTX M/S all weather tires (all have great tread, 1 brand new)roof rackpower moon/sun roof (factory installed)3rd row seating (7 passenger capacity) trailer hitchcross-drilled and slotted brake rotors from DBA (Disc Brakes Australia; Gold version) on all four wheelsoriginal AM/FM/Cassette/CD sound systemkeyless entry and auto-set alarm systemAnd, for the required work:Needs head gasket replaced. No oil/water mixing, but is blowing exhaust gas into the cooling system from one cylinder. Engine runs, but rough due to the cylinder leak, and the exhaust blow-through will blow the radiator if not fixed.Needs radiator replaced (currently blown due to excessive pressure from exhaust gas in system) – replacement radiator is included; new hoses already installed EGR valve (check engine light; EGR Valve code)Exhaust system – needs gasket for flange at rear of catalytic converter, hole in rear of mufflerPower steering system has leak in front cooling coil where it connects to the front cross-member.Overall condition, notwithstanding the above, is good. Wear and tear expected with 14 yrs, 300k miles, minor dings, a couple of small rust spots developing on tailgate door, driver side door overextended but fully functional. Drive train in great condition; front drive shaft/universals was replaced.This lady has many more tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of miles in her once she’s back in prime running order. No Reserve; the Buy It Now price has been discounted to allow for the cost of repairs. Note: will need to be towed/flat-bedded due to blown radiator.
