Vehicle Detail
Welcome. Up for sale is this 1975 MERCEDES BENZ, Model 280 S, Body Style 116 with 95,519 ORIGINAL MILES!. Exterior color is Light Strawberry Metallic with Cream Butternut interior. It originally belonged to a tenant of mine before taking possession of this vehicle and became its new rightful owner in August, 2009. I decided to acquire this vehicle because it was an unmolested and unmodified original needing little to spruce it back into "pristine condition". I had the intention of doing some work on it over the winter with my son, but was sidelined by health issues. THE BAD: At the bottom of the front passenger fender there are paint bubbles visible (rust?), (none elsewhere as the pictures will show). The right side plastic headlight frame shows a few hairline cracks and the left side plastic headlight frame has some missing (broken) pieces, (see picture). Each side is available (new @ Mdparts.com) online for approx.$50.00. The antennae retaining nut was improperly installed (minor). The battery has since died and will need to be replaced. The accelerator pedal and both sunvisors are missing (?). The front bumper has a slight 1 inch ding on it. As seen in the accompanying pictures, there are a few door dings and paint chips as is normal on a 35 year old car, but overall looks like a 7 out of 10 standing 4 feet away. Three cracks can be seen (in the pictures) on the top of the dashboard, caused by the sun, but there is no warpage or distortion present.THAT'S IT!! THE UGLY: Carburator does not seem to be taking fuel into the intake. A Drivability Technician familiar in fuel management and delivery could probably locate & rectify the problem. It seems like a minor thing, but I cannot find it. Once the carburator is "primed" it will start (everytime) and run until the fuel is spent. THE GOOD!!: Over the past summer a complete tine up (wires, plugs, cap, rotor, oil etc...) was performed and a NEW FUEL PUMP was also installed. The factory owner's manual is present and will be included as well as the nylon car cover (original?) with the vehicle at the end of the auction. THE GREAT!!!: Everything on this MERCEDES seems to be in working condition. Even the factory OEM sunroof operates flawlessly! The spare tire (never used!) seems to be the original one and includes the jack assembly. All four (4) tires although not new appear to be in very good to excellent condition! I also have the current & clear title in hand for the next owner. IN SHORT: It isn't in any way a creampuff...nor do I describe, imply or make it look that way, but it certainly has potential...and could make a great daily driver. This will be a very good vehicle to enjoy, restore and drive. My RESERVE HAS BEEN SET REASONABLY LOW, so bid with confidence! This 280 S MERCEDES BENZ has a CLEAN (title) HISTORY with NO LEIN. Buyer will receive TITLE upon full payment of vehicle. A DEPOSIT of $250.00 is expected within 24 hours after the completed sale. The PAYMENT BALANCE is expected within 72 hours following the sale. Buyer is responsible for ANY & ALL shipping costs incurred. Buyer pickup is also offered. Buyer must make own arrangement(s) for towing vehicle. Enjoy the pictures, they speak for themselves. If you have any questions, I will be glad to answer them either through e-mail or by phone,(404-259-6816 c/o John). Thanks and happy bidding! P.S. I am NOT A DEALER, therefore there will not be any "special" hidden fees, documentation, title or other fees. You BUY IT NOW and it's yours. Good Luck!
