Vehicle Detail
This is a 1954 Chevrolet 6500 sereies flatbed truck. This was the work horse of the Chevrolet fleet. This particular truck is outfitted with the largest / most powerful motor that Chevy offered that year. It is a 261 cubic inch 6 cylinder with 135 Hp and 220 Ft Pounds Torque. This is coupled with a 4 speed manual trans and a 2 speed rear end. The bed is about 15 feet long and shows lots of use. The truck shows 55104 miles but I would bet that isn't original and it has a GVW of 16,000 pounds. The truck is 99% complete and ready for restoration. This is a true barn find for someone because we are the ones wanting it gone. I have a starting bid of $500.00 / No Reserve. I have been offered nearly that much for scrap metal recycling but I would really hate to see it go that way. This is a true Califorina truck with a build location of Los Angeles. The truck is fairly rust free with minor surface rust and only one spot of true rust in the left cab corner where they all rusted. The truck has one dent in the left front fender but it should be repairable and it has two small dents in the grill. The body is actually amazingly straight for a 55 year old work truck. The windshield appears to be in good shape (This is the first year of the one piece curved windshield I believe). The back window and the Left quarter window are also in good condition. All the other winds are either missing or so badly seperating you would want to replace them. The tires are 8.25 X 20 on split rims with 10 lugs in the rear and 5 in the front (Same rims front and rear just use half the holes). The rims are OK (if you like split rims) but the tires are all shot. The interior appears to be all there and usable. The only thing I noticed is the ash tray is missing and the seat needs recovering. The interior also needs to be shoved out after years of sitting with the windows open. This truck is currently sitting at a friends of mine house in Llano California about 40 miles East of Palmdale and 30 Miles West of Victorville. It is being sold with a bill of sale only the tittle has been long since lost but the truck hasn't been registered since who knows when (Still has black plates) so it should be off the computer. As far as running condition I know nothing. The only thing I know for sure is it ran like brand new once upon a time (Probably in 1954). You are buying the truck as is where is with no warranties. This is a No Reserve Auction so please only bid if you are going to pay. If you would like to come and take a look at the vehicle before you bid please e-mail me and I will give you a contact number to my friend where the truck is located. He is on vacation all week so making arrangements to see the truck should be no problem. The truck needs to be picked up with in one week of close of auction. A $300.00 Paypal deposit is required with in 72 hours of close of auction unless other arrangements have been made. Shipping of the truck is the sole responsiblity of the buyer and is not included in the purchase price. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool. On Jul-23-10 at 21:28:01 PDT, seller added the following information: If you are restoring or making a rat rod with a similar truck this cab would cost more than the minimum bid. I believe this cab is the same 1/2 ton through 2 ton it is simply the fenders and frame that are different. I have seen good cabs for more than this that weren't complete. This cab is complete except a couple of windows and the ashtray and flat glass is cheap.
