Vehicle Detail
This is a 1972 Chevy C-10 long bed fleetside pick up. I bought this truck at auction in Jan, and really just dont have the time to fix her up, so I am hoping someone else can make better use of it than I have. As you can see from the paint, it is flat black with some red... well, dunno what to call that. It was painted like this when I got it. It looks like good ole spray paint... it has been lowered, obviously... this is a 3 speed column shift. There is also a uhaul trailer hitch installed, but no trailer wiring... go figure. I have bought a few hundred dollars worth of replacement parts. The side marker lights, tail light, and reverse lens are all new. I replaced the door locks and ignition cylinder with GM replacement parts, so the doors and ignition are keyed the same. New door and tail gate bumpers, gas neck gromet, defrost vents, door sil plates, exterior door handle and door lock gaskets. I also have door a few new parts I have not installed: door seals, steer column to floor seal and boot, along with a new set of spark plugs, fuel filter, PCV valve, PCV hose, and distributor cap. I also have the wiring diagram for the truck. I'll give you the receipts from the Truck Shop in Orange where items were purchased. Here is the good, the bad, and the ugly: Good: it starts and runs great. bad: I have a hard time getting it into 3rd gear, and when it gets hot the shifting binds up and gets stuck in random gears. You may want to consider a tow if you're going far. One headlight works, I dont know if the other is blown, or not hooked up, or not even wired? The brake lights, turn signals, emergency flashers all work great. The reverse lights work via a toggle switch on the dash... that is also where the horn is, a little button on the bottom side of the dash. I had taken the steering column apart with the intention of replacing the wire harness to move the horn and reverse back to where they belong, but the shop was out of the replacement part when I went to buy it, and I have never gotten back to it... so thats why the turn signal arm is sitting on the floor. Ugly, obviously the red paint. The good is the body and doors are nice and straight, the glass is all good. There is a dent in the passenger side rear of the bed that was pounded out... its not bad, but it is there. the only bad is the rocker arms are rusted out on both sides. The driver side looks like it was poorly bondoed over... the passenger side is pretty rotted... The good is that new rocker arms are only $14 from the truck shop... The seat is torn to hell, thats why that lovely saddle bench seat cover is on there. There inner door panels are not shown in the pictures, but I do have them. The are painted the same dark red as the exterior trim. There was only one screw holding each panel on, so when I removed them to replace the door locks, I did not put them back on, but they are included. The engine had (it hasn't leaked in a while) a small oil leak... literally, a few drops... but I haven't seen any fresh drips in a while, so it could have been old oil? The tires have plenty of thread life left... Registration ended at the end of June, and is currently on non-op... so when you transfer title, you can keep it on non op or register for the coming year for $104 with no penalties. I have the non op paper work to prove its status. Or you can call DMV with the VIN listed above and they can verify it for you.... Title is clear and in my name and ready to transfer. So, all this said, this is all I know and all I can think of... if you have any questions feel free to email me. Thanx for looking - Dustin
