I'm selling my 1981 BMW 528i. I originally bought it for my ex with the intention of restoring it for summer driving. When she decided to leave, I held the door for her but she wasn't taking the Bimmer! I drove it as my daily driver for about a year. I parked it for last winter but I'm moving shortly so she's gotta go. The car always started, ran smooth, doesn't leak any fluids. 5 speed manual transmission shifts great. Everywhere I went, someone asked me "what year is it"? I'm hoping someone out there will restore her, even though she's got 245k miles, she got a lot of life left in the right hands, after all, it's a BMW! The good, the bad and the other: Good-paint is original, shiny black. Drives great, tight ride, suspension is good. Original Alpina rims are still on the car. Bad-IT DOES HAVE RUST. This is not a show car but it's very, very far from a basket case. Not bad for a 29 year old car. There is rust on the cowls by the windshields, a rust spot of the trunk (picture provided), rust at the front of the vehicle above the bumper. The worst is on the driver's door at the bottom. I had planned to just replace the door prior to painting the car. The turn signals don't work. The wiper motor burned out but I have a replacement. The moon roof works sometimes (electrical issue). The braket that holds the front sway bar bushing broke. The plastic turn signal lens is broken. Other- I have a repair manual for the vehicle. I have new performance struts (although those on the vehicle are fine/tight), I have a replacement wiper motor (maybe two), I have a replacement turn signal switch, I have 3 oil filter and new brake pads that will come with the car. I also have an oxygen sensor (which needs to be replaced). If you're looking for a project Bimmer, this is it, she'll finish quickly and you'll turn heads everywhere you drive her!
