This auction is for a 1981 300SD Turbo diesel 5 cylinder Mercedes that has spent it's life in Texas, Colorado, and California. It is a non-smoking car that has been owned by the 2nd owner for almost 15 years. It is in good overall condition with normal wear. It has about all options available at the time, Euro style headlights, A/C with climate control, AM/FM stereo w/cassette, power steering, brakes, windows, mirrors, locks, dual power seats nice window tinting, and power sunroof. The all leather blue interior contrasts nicely with the wood panel accents, and is in OK but worn condition. Leather needs redye and conditioner, and there a couple of small tears on the driver's seat. The exterior is white and grey with only a couple door dings, and shows well. The glove box door latch is non functional and the wood panel has been removed for repair and the parts are missing. The Odometer shows 210,000 miles but stopped working about 5000 miles ago. The engine was replaced with an exceptionally fine rebuilt engine at 154,000 miles so the engine actually has only about 60,000 miles on it. The car has always been a super running vehicle with no problems but has been mostly idle the past 2 1/2 years and as a consequence needs to be serviced and driven. The tires are very good, like new with less than 3000 miles on them. The sale includes all service records, electronic factory service manual on CD and a Chilton repair manual. There are some items that will need attention to make this your go-to vehicle. The A/C compressor is not working and needs serviced, left lower ball joint should be replaced, driver's seat switch is sticking in full back position(need contacts cleaned?), front shocks are worn, and the muffler hangers are worn. The rear window seal has leaked and there is a spot of rust near the trunk. Other normal wear and tear items may be found but don't really affect the cars performance. The car will be sold as-is-where-is with no warranties given. It has been a very dependable car and will continue to be with proper maintenence. This car is a great candidate for a veggie oil conversion if that is of interest to you. The car is located in San Jose, California and can be seen by appointment.
