Vehicle Detail
I'm re-listing my 1956 dodge pickup truck for sale. THIS IS THE LAST TIME I AM LISTING IT ANYWHERE, before I pull the engine and leave it in a field to rust apart, I dont have time to finish it Its a 56 cab, with a clear title. Its on a shortened 80s dodge truck frame with front disc brakes, drum rears, high-low 4wd, it will climb about anything. It has a 4spd manual and a 318 single barrel carb engine, both operate well, both are from the 70s. The bed is 70s vintage. This truck is one of a kind, built from all dodge parts. The running gears and brake system are easy to find parts for, 70s-80s was all relatively the same and still cheap and easy to find The engine will probably need a tuneup before its ran too much, but it runs tight and sounds good, idles well. Ive driven the truck around my lot, but the clutch will need adjusted like I said, I put it into 1st in 4wd so that it would creep along since the brakes leak. I put a fuel pump on it, and have been running it from a bottle. The running gears are sound it will drive onto a trailer, but you obviously CANT drive it home.... The brakes are good, they work well, there is a leak in the line by the rear drivers side brake drum that needs fixed. the trans shifts well but the clutch needs adjusted out before it will work properly. Its supposedly a new clutch thats in it, I have not checked i cant promise anything the cab and bed both have some rust spots, nothing terrible. The bottoms of the doors will need some work The firewall wall was cut for the 318 to fit in, a piece needs welded in. I was going to use an old road sign I have pressure treated pine boards for the bed, they are yours with the truck I have a tailgate for it in mint condition, hard to find I might throw in a set of unilug turbine wheels so that it has matching wheels, if it goes for the right price and you want them the gauges are there, so is the gauge trim piece. The glove box has a lot of old service stickers on the inside of the door I have a gas tank for it, its the kind that sits behind the bench seat it has a bench seat in it that needs mounted, it fits perfectly in the space and is comfortable, it goes with it I have both inner fenders for it, and front and rear bumpers the steering column is from an automatic, just drive the pin out and the shifter will come off and it will look better. the column needs bolted to the dash, a bracket is there it would make a cool rat/street rod, which is what I was going to do the bed is partially painted black, I was going to leave the cab red and paint the bed black with black rod stripes on the doors of the cab to hit the road it NEEDS: brake line patched a good radiator (the one in it is for a 6 cyl and it leaks) carb cleaning and tune up gas tank wired up. I have the coil on a switch and have been hot wiring it to get it to run, you will need to get the lights working before its street legal I have a 318 engine/dash harness for it if you want to use that, either do that or a painless kit door windows- they are flat, and the broken ones are still in the doors to use as templates. You can make some cheaply, think plexi or get some glass cut for it also I have one door panel for it, it will make a good template for you to make your own, just flip it over for the other side. This is a great start on a classic hot rod or rat rod project, that already has a V8 and 4WD! The exhaust is duals, it sounds good and is solid. You cant even start building a truck like this for below the reserve price. Its low, please dont ask what it is. Its not perfect, it needs some work, but its a great start thats had a lot of work put into it. Once again, you cant build this truck for what its going to sell for on here, I just need money. if your not willing to give it a few days of work to get it on the road, its not for you. It runs, but its not a turn key truck. I might be interested in a trade on a running driving classic, but cash is king Thanks and any questions or to come see it, just ask On Jul-01-10 at 19:34:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Just thought Id make an addition to the original listing, Ive been getting tons of questions about this truck. Just wanted to be perfectly clear, its a project truck, and Im not sure about everything exactly that it needs, for example I know it needs an oversized oil pan plug probably because I just changed the oil and oil filter and it it leaking slowly from the plug in the pan..... Stuff like that you just have to expect on a project truck. I dont want someone winning it and looking it over and not liking it. It was home built, this wasnt a $10,000 fully custom street rod build for $1000. Its a home built rat/street rod for around $1000 that has nice strong welds and mounts, but its not a show queen. the drivetrain, engine, trans, 4wd, all work and are ready to go with some adjustments. thats a HUGE start. fix the brake line, radiator, clean up the carb and timing, adjust the clutch, do some wiring, and there will be piddly little loose ends to tie up, its a project. Ive seen these 56 pickups for $3k with the flathead 6, automatic, no 4wd, body in a little better shape. If you dont want to have fun finding a few parts like door mirrors and mounting bumpers, etc then this truck isnt for you. The deposit is non-refundable, and the truck is sold AS-IS. Sometimes you have to spell things out so nobody gets disappointed. Thanks and any questions or pictures you need, let me know
