Vehicle Detail
CHECK THIS OUT 1969 Ford Mustang Convertible Factory 351 V8 - Auto Trans - 9" Posi Rear End So here is the deal. This is a project car. It is not perfect. I will describe it in detail to the best of my ability, but please ask questions before you bid and I will answer everything honestly. Please check the details below and understand them fully before you bid. This is a NO RESERVE auction, so if you are the high bidder, you own the car. No questions asked afterwords. I bought this car a month ago on Ebay, and had plans to restore it completely. There is enough good on this car to make it really worth some money and worth restoring. However, my wife has Cardio-Myapothy. (don't know if I spelled that right) It is a heart condition, and has been in remission for the last few years. She just went to the doctor for her annual heart check up last week, and her condition has got worse. She will probably not be able to return to work, which is forcing me to sell the car. That is the only reason that I am selling her. The car is an original 1969 Convertible car. The motor is the origial 351. From everything we can tell, the whole drivetrain is completely original. The motor runs good and the transmission shifts good. When I bought the car, it had no brakes, and had been sitting for some unknown time. Since picking it up, I have replaced the brakes completely. It has new shoes, new spring kits, new automatic slack adjusters, new brake lines in the rear, and new master cylinder. I also replaced the gas tank, pick up, and sending unit because the gas was bad in the tank and there was a lot of junk in the tank. The car would run, but not very well. The carb was all gummed up. I pulled and rebuilt the carb, and now the motor responds fantastic. In fact, it is almost too fast as it does want to spin the rear tires when you take off. That being said, the car should still be picked up and trailered to your location. The radiator still has some gunk in it, and I have tried to rinse it out, but did not have the power needed. It really needs to be flushed. It also has no fan shroud, so it has a tendancy to get hot. Once flushed, it should do good. We have checked it for blow by, and we don't have any. There is also no water in the oil, or anything else like that. Also, the tires are really weather checked. I would hate to see someone try to drive the car very far and blow a tire. The rear is original looking bias ply tires. The fronts are mis-matched radials. That does make the car a little squirrly, but not too bad. In order to have a really good driver, you should only need tires, change all fluids, flush the cooling system, get a fan shroud ($43 at CJ Pony Parts) and maybe shocks. Now - this is still a project car. The paint is really bad. I almost think Maaco could do a better job. There is a lot of good metal, or usable metal, but some has been patched, and done so poorly. There is also some rust underneath, including some frame rust. Nothing that can't be repaired or fixed, but it is not real pretty right now. In order to make this a really good car, you would have to replace about half the metal on the car in my opinion. Fortunatly, you can get new metal for the car at pretty good prices. The interior was redone by someone many years ago. The seats are in good condition with no rips or tears. The carpet has been replaced at some point and time. The dash is in good shape, but the dash pad has some cracks in it. The interior could use a really good cleaning to make it nicer. The car has several things that are on a GT car, but we can not tell that it was a GT, so I am not selling it as such. However, it does have the original wheels for the year with the correct GT hubs and trim rings. It also has the heavy duty sway bar, the dual exhaust rear panel, the quick release fuel tank door, and it is a factory 351. The VIN on the car is actually 9F03H100300. However, the title I got when I bought it said 9F08H100300. At some point and time, someone read the three as an eight, and I have not bothered to get that changed yet because of the trouble it takes to do it. Therefore, the title has an "8" where it should have a "3". I have over $6000 in this car, but I need to sell it to clear a loan payment since the wife is coming off work again. This car is really worth rebuilding in my opinion, but that is my opinion. I would like to see it go somewhere that someone will appreciate it and rebuild it. That being said, please understand that it is a work in process. The car runs good, the motor sounds great, but it is a project car. You can invest just a little and drive like is, or you could make an investment in the car and rebuild it and have something wonderful. If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them and give you any and all information that I can prior to bidding. If you want to talk to me, just email me through Ebay with a phone number, and I will call you back. I will answer all emails that I receive. Here are the specific details, terms and conditions, and small print that I have to put in here: This is a legal contract to purchase a vehicle. Please read all my terms and conditions and make sure you understand them and agree to them before you bid on this car. This car has a clean Iowa title in my name. However, since I just purchased the car, I borrowed to get it. The bank has the title, and it will be released after payment is received. Therefore, upon purchase, you will get the car, the registration signed over, a bill of sale, and a signed contract for purchase. The bank will be paid immediatly, and the title will be released within a week and sent directly to the new owner from the bank via certified mail. Please check my feedback. You will see I am very honest, and am being honest right now. This is the only way I can sell the vehicle, because I have to clear the note at the bank in order to get the car released. If you have any questions or concerns on this, I can give you the name and number of the manager of the bank who you can talk to and verify that the information I am giving you is correct. I will require a $500 deposit within 48 hours of end of auction. Deposit can be made through Paypal. All other payments must be made in certified funds such as cash, cashiers check, or money order. No personal checks will be accepted. Payment must be made in full and certified good by my bank prior to release of vehicle for pick up. The car is sold "AS-IS / WHERE-IS". There is no warranty or guarantee of any type given with this vehicle. Vehicle must be picked up in person in Woodward, Iowa. If you can not pick up the car, please make your own shipping arrangements. I can help with getting it loaded or to a load station, but I will not be responsible for any shipping of the vehicle. As stated before, the vehicle needs to be picked up and trailered. I would not recommend driving it until the radiator is flushed, and the tires replaced. In summery, this is a really neat car, that runs and drives, and is original. However, it is a project car that will need work. Please bid accordingly. Please contact me with any questions, and thanks for looking. Good luck. On Jul-16-10 at 12:15:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello, and thanks for looking at my car. I wanted to add some additional information based upon some questions that have been received. First and most importantly - I am not an expert. I am not a mechanic. I am not a body person. I just like cars. I bought this car to be a driver that I could run around and have some fun while I spent time rebuilding it. This car needs to be rebuilt. There is a lot of rust and rough spots on the car. That is why it is not priced where most of the other 69 mustangs are priced. I was asked by an Ebay member to give him some specific pictures of the worst of the rust. I have posted these on the listing now so you can see them. I can also send you pictures directly if you send me an email address. I have a copy of the Marti report for this car. I can send that to anyone who wants to see it, but you must contact me and give me an email address to send it to. I can not seem to attach it through Ebay email. I talked with Meacum and Kline from the Meacum Auto Auctions this morning on the radio. The car has a very unique VIN number, and I asked them about this. In their opinion, it does not add a lot of intrinsic value to the car, but it does add marketing value. The car is probably not the first convertible mustang made for 69 model year, but it was probably produced the very first week. It may have been the first one in the Candy Apple Red color with the 351W motor, but there is no way to tell this. I am reluctant to put my phone number on here because I don't want a bunch of spam calls. However, I do want to be able to honestly answer any questions anyone has before they purchase the car. Therefore, I am going to do that. You may reach me at 515-438-4540 or 515-371-3768. Everyone knows the statement about opinions: "everybody has one and they all smell" With that in mind, please understand that everything I am telling you about the car is the honest truth based upon my opinion. I think this is a really neat car, and I love it. It runs and drives, has new brakes, gas tank, rebuilt carb, fuel filter, and more. However, the car does need body work to make it nice. It is rough. (looks great at 20', but not close up) One more thing. I have a trailer and truck, and would be willing to deliver the car within a reasonable distance for a fee. I am guessing around a dollar a mile. Please keep in mind though that I live in the midwest. Please don't ask me to deliver to New York, Florida, or the west coast. I can not do that. The delivery fee would have to be paid in advance. I don't want to make a trip and then have someone tell me they won't pay me. Thanks again for checking out my car. Please keep in mind that it is a project car that needs work, but it runs and drives, and is a 69 convertible. It still turns heads everyday. Please ask any questions you have and call me if you need to so that you feel comfortable before you buy. I have a perfect Ebay record, and I intend to keep it that way. Thanks for your time, and enjoy the weekend.
