1956 Ford Thunderbird This T-bird has been in our small town in SE Missouri for a lot of years. A couple of years ago the previous owner passed away and we purchased it from his widow. It has been garaged for as long as we have known. We generally do not buy this generation of vehicle but she was just too pretty to pass up! Since we do not generally buy this genre of vehicles, we do not know a lot about this car therefore, we have added a lot of pictures as a visual guide. PLEASE do not hesitate to email or call with questions or comments as we are in the dark as to the areas that may be of the most concern. We do know that upon a visual inspection of the areas that are of the average concern there are some blemishes which are pointed out in the pictures as well as some beautiful highlights. We do not see any rust or putty in the wheel wells or floorboards. We were told that in the production process of the T bird, they applied a tar coating in the trunk and behind the seats on the backside of the trunk, this tar coating has expanded and contracted which gives it an "eggshell" appearance. The gentleman that we spoke to said that would be normal and maybe even desirable, since it shows that it has not been refinished. Again, that is something we are not accustomed to seeing in the late 60's generation of vehicles that we own! It drives like a dream. A great driver that starts quickly and idles great! The ride is very smooth and solid. There is absolutely nothing about this car mechanically that we are aware of that is not in good working order, except for the air-conditioning. It has an air-conditioning compressor intact under the hood but no under dash air unit. It has an aftermarket AM/FM/ Cassette that is not functional. Although the clock, tach, spedo, in dash dome light are in great working condition. It also has a new battery. This car is a V8 with a 312 motor, automatic with power steering and brakes. As the pictures show it has a desirable continental kit. This car is considered a "hardtop vehicle" although it is removable. It does not have a convertible. Interior and dash look great, no rips, stains or tears. Headliner looks very nice as well and is in good condition. Paint is very nice with the exception of a few bubbles around the bottom of the fender, which is shown in the pictures. Overall this is not a showroom new car but very nice and presentable. It sure turns heads when you drive down the street! Please do not hesitate to contact us for more info that I have not covered with the description and photos.
