Vehicle Detail
Vehicle is for sale as is. No warranty. I have owned this vehicle for ~9 years. I bought it from a local Houston broker who specializes in vintage Jeeps. Title is clean. According to the broker, before I purchased the Jeep it had one owner who had used it primarily for his hunting lease during the previous 50 years. The previous owner had replaced the engine at some point and that is the one that has ~8,600 miles on it. Additionally, the broker slightly modified the suspension to tighten it and potentially give it a slight lift (~1"). Over the last ~9 years it has been driven less than a few hundred miles a year just around my neighborhood to the park where I run and to nearby ice houses. I have had done significant mechanical and electrical work. This includes: 1) having some leaking oil isolated and fixed, 2) getting the electrical system repaired, 3) having much of the brake system torn apart and fixed, 4) rebuilding radiator, 5) replacement of much of the fuel system. replacing the mechanical fuel pump with an electric one and installing a new gas tank. The vehicle drives better now that at any point in time since I've owned it. If I were to keep it another 5 years and continued driving it a few hundred miles a year I would only anticipate replacing the tires. The reason for selling is that I rarely use it and I live in a high rise and only have 2 parking spaces so it would be nice to have the second one open for guests given how rarely I have driven the jeep the last two years. I get it serviced at RMS Auto on Westheimer in Houston. I'm happy to let you talk to them to get 3rd party opinion of the vehicle condition. The vehicle was last inspected in 2003 and passed, but had issues with the windshield wiper. The vacuum that drives the vacuum motor is strong, but the motor likely needs to be taken apart and cleaned so it operates so slowly I'm not sure most mechanics would call it functioning. Because of this I haven't bothered to try to have it inspected since 2003. I have had many police office ogle the vehicle and none have ever mentioned the expired inspection sticker for the obvious reason that the vehicle is a national treasure! In any case, conversion kits are ~$45 (http://www.kaiserwillys.com/product/639/willys_wiperelectricconversionkits) if you are more concerned than I am with getting functioning windshield wipers in a vehicle with no roof. It has been registered and insured every year I've owned it and is currently registered with vintage 1953 Texas plates. If the buyer would like those plates we can make a side deal on them. In terms of shipping and payment I'd prefer to do it all on paypal. But if you want to provide a registered check that is fine. I'll need a deposit of half within the first 24 hours of the sale otherwise I will go to the second highest bidder. Shipping is up to you. I live near downtown in Houston, TX and am happy to be accommodating to a point. 50% of proceeds goes to Movember. An organization focused on funding prostate cancer research as well as other men's health issues.
