Vehicle Detail
1985 DODGE W100 4X4 FULL SIZE PICKUP REGULAR CAB NOT RUNNING. 318 cid. 153K, 8-Foot Bed. Standard transmission, 4 on the floor. 1st gear is a granny gear. 2-speed transfer case. Transfer case worked last time it was used, year or two ago. Glass all good except windshield has fogging around edges from age. Front bumper bent up from old very minor accident. You can see the dents in pictures except just behind the driver door on side of bed, didn’t show up very well in pictures. Driver door hard to shut but does shut, have to give it a harder then usual slam. Driver window does roll up and down. Tree branch landed on top of cab in ice storm, just dented outer shell, no dent inside cab. Bed rusted on inside front where it meets the front piece that’s behind cab. Radio doesn’t work. A/C not working. Has electrical problems. Been sitting unused for about a year now. I would start it up and run it down the street every two weeks. Started backfiring and died while running couple of months ago, it will not even try to turn over now; absolutely nothing happens when you turn the key. When it was running the valve seats leaked over night and it would blow blue smoke for a few minutes after starting then clear up. The engine is a rebuilt short block I had put in about 60K back. My guess is it may need timing chain, however I have not checked this out. Obviously the timing chain has nothing to do with why it won’t even try to turn over, that is one of the electrical problems it has. Other electrical problems include: with alternator hooked up it will peg the amp meter to the positive side with key in the on position before starting. After starting it will peg to the negative side of amp meter, short somewhere in the electrical system. I haven’t any desire to even try to fix this or have it fixed, so I’m getting rid of it. Since I wasn’t using the truck I just disconnected the alternator and charged the battery when needed. Then one of the snap on connection to the alternator melted when it slipped down and came in contact with the exhaust system. Cannot hook up alternator now until snap is replaced. One of the back brake pads sticks to the drum after its been sitting for awhile, only when emergency brake is engaged. When it was running I just put it in gear and rocked the truck back and forth one or two times and it would brake loose. I’m sure its stuck again but since the truck is not running, will most likely have to be hand rocked back and forth to get it rolling. Needs a complete brake job. You can see the obvious cosmetic damage to the body and poor mechanical condition so it will need restoration or used as a parts truck. Truck is located in Katy, Texas, 77449 about 20 miles West of Houston, Texas. Have described defects best I could, not trying to hide anything about truck. Ask questions if you need to. Leaving city so I will not be able to answer any questions until the night of July 11th. If I come back earlier I will immediately start answering questions if any. Truck to be picked up within 14 days of closing of auction. Bring your leash and drag this jewel home.
