Thanks for coming to check out this auction! I have an excellent reputation & positive feedback rating on eBay, so you can bid with confidence on my items. Please be sure to read the entire description and view all of the super-sized photos of the vehicle before placing your bids. Thank you. Notice, this is a no reserve auction! Shown here is a 1956 Chevrolet 210 2 door sedan with the 235 inline 6 cylinder engine and 3-on-the-tree manual transmission. It is basically all original, and very much un-molested. It does have some places where the paint was amaturely touched up, but is still wearing the majority of its factory original black paint from 1956! We ran over it quickly with a high-speed buffer just to try and bring back the shine, and were pleased with the results we were getting! As you can see, the car is starting to look fairly presentable, and some might consider it decent enough for a daily driver as it is...but make no mistake about it... it would definitely need to be re-painted if you wanted to make it a show car. The engine runs very well (strong!) and sounds nice. We've owned a lot of vintage cars, and were astonished by how peppy this one is for a 6 cylinder! It will definitely cruise at 70mph + without any problem. The transmission shifts well through all the gears. The brakes work, but you have to give them an extra 1/2 a pump before you get a solid, firm brake pedal feel, and they pull to one side (typical old car, drum brake issues). The driver's front wheelbearing is worn out. We noticed while changing a tire that it has some slop/play, and needs to be replaced before taking the car on any more interstate road trips. We did drive it home 25 miles when we bought it, and the bearing didn't get hot or anything, but definitely needed to be mentioned so the next owner knows, and can tend to it. Also, the same hub was missing a couple of the lug-studs (another thing that would need to be addressed before taking it down the road at freeway speed). The previous owner neglected to mention this to us, and we never would've driven the car as fast as we did had we known about it. Nonetheless... I lived, and can say from experience, that the car did cruise nicely at 70 + mph. We noticed that it does have one blown shock absorber though, so it's kinda bouncy one one corner. The previous owner applied silver spray paint over a much of the chrome and stainless, but we've managed to rub most of it off with fine steel-wool and a LOT of elbow grease. There is a hole drilled in the hood chrome for some unknown reason, and some of the other chrome is pitted, and damaged (specifically the passenger side taillight housing). We have been promised the front bumper, though I do not know what condition it is in. We still have not gotten it as of yet. We are going to keep hounding the previous owner about it, and of course will include it with the sale of this car provided we get it from him. Also, someone had screwed two round reflectors (for "safety") onto the trunk lid unfortunately, so that's what the marks are on the deck lid. As happend with most all of these cars... the insides of both front fenders rusted out just above the headlight bezels, so the previous owner glassed them back in, and painted the repaired area with black paint. It looks okay, but still needs a little more sanding, etc before I would call them "finish work". He also glassed in the bottoms of both front fenders, as they each had one small rust hole (as is very typical on '50s cars). The floorpans had some holes in them, so they fabricated some new sheetmetal and riveted it in place, covering over it with the rubber floor mat (this car came from the factory as a plain-Jane model without carpet). The trunk floor is pretty solid, and frame is totally fine as far as rust goes. Body mounts aren't bad either from what I can see. The speedometer works, but I think the odometer is stuck at 49,999 miles. Other gauges and such seem to be in working order. The interior is all original and starting to get a little tattered, but in very restorable condition (the front seat is still pretty nice). The driver's doorglass is cracked, but it's just flat glass, so it would be easy and inexpensive to replace at any glass shop. The tires are vintage, bias-ply units with tubes. They look like they belong on a truck (the rears have an agressive mud/snow lug), but they all hold air, and have lots of tread remaining on them. One wheel is rusted out on one edge (see close up photo) from sitting with a flat tire on the dirt floor of a barn for many years... the other 3 are fine. According to the condition standards of the Old Cars Price Guide, I would say that this car is a good, solid #4 condition vehicle. They value this 1956 Chevrolet 210 two-door sedan at over $6,000.00, however I've listed ours at far less with no reserve, so take advantage of your opportunity to buy this desireable classic at a bargain price! It would make a very EASY project, and is mostly useable as a daily driver just the way it is. Drive it as you fix it up! If you have any further questions, please feel free to e-mail my son at oldcargeek@gmail.com, or give him a call at (641) 512-5229. He is a knowledgeable mechanic and bodyman, and is very familiar with the car. Anyone is welcome to come inspect the vehicle in person, or send an independent technician over to inspect it for you. Thanks for looking! If you intend to have this vehicle shipped with a car carrier, the auto transporters I have contact info for are as follows: Atlas Auto Transport (888)285-2706, David Irving 763-441-3796, Larry Baker 605-484-6949 There’s also one called D.A.S. (Dependable Auto Shippers) with a shipping dock out of Altoona, Iowa (about 2&½ hours from us here in Mason City) 800 826-1083. DAS has some finicky policies such as no contents in the car other than what will fit in the trunk, and they won’t dribble gas into a carburetor or jump start a battery to get a car started without charging you an additional fee (even if it’s 20 below zero outside), so beware of this kind of thing with them. By bidding on this item (or otherwise agreeing to purchase the vehicle), you acknowledge that it is being sold AS IS with no warranty implied or expressed, and that we require a $250.00 security deposit via PayPal or money order sent to myself: Melody Stone, 516 N. Jefferson Ave., Mason City, IA 50401 within 5 days of auction’s end, and the remaining balance of the vehicle is to be paid for in full within 10 days. If coming to pick it up in person, then we ask that you bring cash for the remainder of payment, otherwise if having the vehicle shipped, a Wells Fargo or Bank of America cashier’s check is acceptable. If you can’t get the vehicle picked up right away, storage for a reasonable amount of time may be an option, but please ask before you bid, and remember that the vehicle must be paid for in full within 10 days of auction’s end whether it has been picked up yet or not. I request Wells Fargo or Bank of America because they are National Chains and I can go right down to our local branch here in Mason City and cash the note right away without having to wait for a 10 day hold from another bank. This way, I can just send the title right out to you, and there’s no waiting for the funds to clear. This helps with those having a vehicle transported as well, because I cannot release a vehicle to an auto shipper if the payment is not cleared. Anyone failing to pay for an item won at auction will surely have non-paying-bidder action taken against them. Security deposits are considered non-refundable.
