Thanks for coming to check out this auction! I have an excellent reputation & positive feedback rating on eBay, so you can bid with confidence on my items. Please be sure to read the entire description and view all of the super-sized photos of the vehicle before placing your bids. Thank you. Notice, this is a No Reserve Auction! Shown here is a 1951 Ford Custom two door sedan with the Flathead V8 engine, and rare Overdrive transmission option! This is a great drivetrain combination enbabling you to have a V8 engine and still get good fuel economy. The odometer shows 69,721 miles, and judging from the condition of the car, I would say that it could possibly be the original mileage. The car has no bondo covering up any rust, so what you see is exactly what you get (no hidden unpleasant surprises with this car!). There are a few small rust holes down low as I photographed, but they're very localized, and not spreading (as some people refer to as "cancer"). There's also one in the floor pan on the driver & passenger's side up front (as you can see in the interior photos), but that's about it. The body mounts are solid... frame is solid, and overall the car needs very little rust repair. It appears to have originally been an ugly copperish-gold color, but was re-painted black probably 25 years ago. You can see it still looks glossy in the pictures, but it has some dents and cheesy touched up areas, so it will definitely need a re-paint. I really wasn't ready to sell this car yet. It pains me, but I have run up against time; and the ONLY reason we are selling this car without fixing it up first; it is that my City has given me an abatement notice ("nuissance" letter), stating that I must remove any non-operating vehicles from my yard in order to become into compliance with our city's ordinances, or else (basically they basically threaten to make life as I know it come to an end). Because of this ultimatum I've been given, you have an opportunity to scoop up on a great classic Shoebox Ford for a bargain price that will be an EASY project! The engine turns over freely, and definitely will run, but the carburetor is off of it currently (we were going to install the rebuild kit in it & get the engine going, but simply ran out of time). It will start for a moment if you spray starting fluid down the intake-manifold hole, or dribble a splash of gas in there. Also, there's a really nice gas tank which was boiled out and restored (just needs to be hung into place, and have fuel lines hooked up. There are a bunch of extra parts in the trunk, and most all of the chrome and stainless trim is there (except for the taillights and taillight spears)... it just has 49 Ford taillights on it instead (which I think look better anyway). Otherwise, it's all original and complete. Also, all of the glass in this car is good except for the driver's side door window (which has a crack as you can see in the close up photo). Dissassembly was barely begun for restoration, but halted before much was removed from the vehicle at all. Basically, the carpet was taken out (& discarded), stainless beltline trim, taillights, grill, carburetor and side glass were removed. I set these items back into place for the photos (minus the carpet & beltline molding). I also tucked a set of port-a-wall rubber wide whitewall ring inserts into the beauty rings (just to give you an idea of what the car would look like with wide-whitewall tires) and mocked up a pair of fender-skirts I had laying around from a '52 Ford for the photos. I would PREFER to keep the portawalls and fender skirts for another future project myself, so if the buyer doesn't want either of these items, I will take $90.00 off the final price of the auction for the car (for the portawalls), and another $175.00 off (for the fender skirts) if I can keep them, too. I looked it up in the Old Cars Price Guide, and my price is VERY fair. I've started out the auction listing with no reserve, so you've got an excellent opportunity to own a great classic Ford in solid, easilly restorable condition with loads of potential for a real bargain! Anyone is welcome to come check out the car in person, or send a mechanic or bodyman over to inspect it if desired. Any further questions... I may be reached at (641) 512-5229. Thanks for looking, and best of luck on the auction! I included a few pictures of our other Shoebox Ford with real-fire-flames by Hagen Customs. That car will also be for sale on eBay soon. By bidding on this item (or otherwise agreeing to purchase the vehicle), you acknowledge that it is being sold AS IS with no warranty, and that I require a $250.00 security deposit via PayPal or money order sent to myself: Jason Stone, 1719 S. Coolidge Ave., Mason City, IA 50401 within 5 days of auction’s end, and the remaining balance of the vehicle is to be paid for in full within 10 days. If coming to pick it up in person, then I ask that you bring cash for the remainder of payment, otherwise if having the vehicle shipped, a Wells Fargo or Bank of America cashier’s check is acceptable. I request Wells Fargo or Bank of America because they are National Chains and I can go right down to our local branch here in Mason City and cash the note right away without having to wait for a 10 day hold from another bank. This way, I can just send the title right out to you, and there’s no waiting for the funds to clear. This helps with those having a vehicle transported as well, because I cannot release a vehicle to an auto shipper if the payment is not cleared. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding. Anyone failing to pay for an item won at auction will surely have an appropriate non-paying-bidder action taken against them. Security deposits are considered non-refundable. Thank you for your understanding. If you intend to have this vehicle shipped with a car carrier, the auto transporter I have been using with a good deal of success for the last couple years is Atlas Auto Transport (888)285-2706. They are very competitive on price, and Patricia can get you a quote over the phone.
