1966 Austin Healey 3000 Mk III DESCRIPTION We are proud to offer this beautiful 1966 Austin Healey 3000MkIII. It is a project car, not running, and needs work to be road-ready. This car has a 2639cc/161ci straight line 6 cylinder engine and a 4 speed manual transmission with electronic overdrive. As shown in the photo, the vin number is HBJ8L/33527. The mileage listed on the odometer is 29,831 miles. As far as I know, this is the actual mileage, but can't be guaranteed. It has a new convertible top that has not been installed yet, and also comes with the tonneau cover. The spoked wheels may or may not be original to the car, but were on the vehicle when it was purchased. I am selling this car on consignment and will relay any questions to the owner. The owner purchased the car approximatley 10 years ago as a running vehicle and drove it regularly. At that time, it had fuel pump problems and various electrical problems that were common with these vehicles. The last two times it was out on the road it had to be towed back due to the electrical system causing the car to stall. The engine ran strong with no known mechanical defects. The engine's compression has never been tested. The last time it was driven, the owner decided to park the vehicle until the electrical system could be replaced with all new wiring harnesses. It was driven a total of about 4-5k miles by the current owner. The vehicle has been sitting ever since, and no work was done on the electrical system or anything else on the vehicle. It has been garage kept and sitting for the past 9 years. All known issues: - The right front master brake cylinder needs redone. It leaked down, and that wheel is now frozen. - The tachometer is inoperable. - The electrical system is still in need of repair. - The car has been bondo'd and is not a completely solid-body car. The bondo work I've noticed can be seen in the photos listed. - There are normal dings, scratches, rust spots, etc. on various parts of the vehicle. I took almost 100 pictures trying to show every angle and inch of the vehicle, but there's a chance I could have missed something. The rust in the trunk was photographed from both the inside of the trunk and underneath the vehicle. - Needs the new convertible top installed. - Needs the various parts photographed reinstalled on the vehicle. - Needs new headlights. (inside trunk rust) (under trunk rust) On Jun-18-10 at 11:38:21 PDT, seller added the following information: *UPDATE* I had a couple of questions about ending the auction early and selling for a certain amount, and I relayed those offers to the owner. He has decided to keep the auction up. One potential buyer asked for more photos of the underside of the car and wanted me to point out where I thought bondo was. The current owner didn't do any of the bondo work, but from knocking on the side of the car you can hear a tone difference in certain parts. The parts on the white area that are discolored are believed to be bondo. The additional photos pointing this out are shown below. A couple of people have asked about the title to the vehicle. When the owner bought the vehicle 10 years ago from a seller in Florida, he never filled out the "purchaser" section on the title and sent it in. So it's an open titled vehicle. We have the title in hand, and it is a Florida title with the purchaser section left blank, and the seller section filled out by the previous owner and signed. In Alabama, where the vehicle is located, you can either go and apply for a title to the vehicle, or bring this title in with you signed as if you are buying the car from the previous owner. I'm not familliar with how to go about titling it in other states.
