Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my kustom 49 merc chop top coupe. I have set a very reasonable reserve, and am quite sure it will sell. This is a great running and driving car, that is just a blast to drive. We put close to a thousand miles on it last weekend going to the Goodguys show in Loveland, CO. On the way home, we averaged 22.7 mpg running 75 mph, with the A/C on the whole time. It has channeled floors in it which gives it a ton of interior space, and allows the seats to be lower. My buddy is 6'7", and found the car to be very comfortable and easy to see out of. I'll start out with the body. The top has been chopped 6", with leaned B-pillars, and a 1950 back glass. The window openings on the doors has had straight metal welded in to allow for a one piece glass. The front end has had all the trim removed, seams welded and smoothed, and flips forward. The split in the fenders is hidden by '64 pontiac side trim. The hood also has functional C-scoops. The headlights are frenched and extended. The nose of the hood is peaked between the headlights. A '55 Olds grill was cut and brought to a vee, as was the front bumper. The ribbed bumpers are '49 plymouth. The decklid was shaved and the stock tail lights were saved. Could use a new lens on one side. Long bubble skirts hide the rear wheels. Everything has been smoothed. There has been a lot of time and care taken to ensure good gaps and fitment. Check out the lines on this car! The interior sports a '59 Chevy dash and a '53 packard steering wheel. All the garnish mouldings have been cut down and are in the car. It also has new carpet. The seats are from a newer vehicle. I intended to run '64 T-bird interior, but didn't get that far. I might be willing to sell the '64 interior to the winner for an additional charge. The drive train in this vehicle is all from a '92 chevy caprice, with 85K miles. This means a superior ride, better brakes, fuel injection, overdrive transmission, air conditioning, heat, power steering, cruise control, poly gas tank, and a tried and true driveline. These are the same cars used as taxis and cop cars. I've seen them with 300,000 plus miles. In the strange event that you might need a part for the driveline, there on the shelf at your local auto parts store, or go to the local garage and plug the scanner in. These throttle body motors run great and are very efficient. It'll light em up easy, or cruise 80 all day long. The V8 motor sounds great with a more open exhaust, and the motor is topped with a Cadillac style bat-wing air cleaner. I cannot stress enough how nice this car drives. We drove around in the mountains for a few hours after the car show, and it handles great. I intended to put a LOT of miles on this car, but have had a recent change of plans. The car has airbags on the rear and springs on the front. The car rides low, but very rarely rubs bottom. There is no compressor or tank yet, just a fill valve. The 59 guages are not hooked up. I have the donor guage cluster mounted under the dash for now. The body work is nice, and the topcoat is a satin black/burgundy. The glass is smoked safety glass with new regulators, and rubbers. No switches yet, just jumpers. I live in central Nebraska and would be willing to show the car or give rides if wanted. If you wanted to take this car to show car level, it would take very little, or you could just drive the wheels off of it. This is a super reliable, drivable car that turns heads!! Please have funds ready if bidding. Clear title, in hand. That being said, bid high and bid often!
