Vehicle Detail

This is a 1972 Series III Land Rover: History: Originally from South Africa, this Right Hand Drive (RHD) 88” was shipped over about 10 years ago. It has been in the garage the whole time while I restored it. Engine: The engine is in good condition, there are less than 500 miles on the new head gasket and about 110,000 on the vehicle. I have driven it from Colorado to Houston and to Galveston TX. Drive Train: I have installed the Rocky Mountain Overdrive from Wise Owl. This allows it to cruise at 55 mph if needed. I wouldn’t recommend it. The overdrive basically allows all 4 gears to be 4 high. Body: There is some rust in the floorboard but I have the replacement sheet metal shipped from England to replace the rusted parts. The frame is in very good condition. When I bought the rover the body had 6 coats of paint (you can see what it looked like in the last two pictures). I pressure washed the paint down to the metal so it’s almost ready to repaint. The paint on the doors is primer. The vents work and I have new windows for each door. I also have a new rear door with new rear window. The top comes with it but it’s not on the vehicle now. Suspension: I have installed the Rocky Mountain Parabolic Suspension Systems. The brakes are standard. Lights: All lights have been replaced. I would suggest towing this or shipping it to your garage. It hasn’t been driven in several years. It’s licensed in Texas. There have been several questions about details so I have uploaded some more pictures. You can see the undercarriage and other details. The picture of bolts shows how to remove the front bumper if needed. You can see the muffler is new as well as the door hinges. There is one dent in the one of the new doors that happened during shipping. Also notice the bottle opener in the door jam… this may come in handy during tailgate parties.I noticed this morning that the water pump is leaking. A new water pump is $49 from "Rovers North". Parts in general are easy to find because Series rovers are still used in Canada and new parts are still being made.I believe I replaced the water pump when I bought this vehicle but that was about 10 yrs ago... its probably just the gasket anyway.I have about $8,000 invested. This will be a great project for someone to finish.
