1966 VOLKSWAGEN CONVERTIBLE VIN: 156969933 MULTIPLE IMAGES ARE SHOWN BELOW THE WRITTEN DESCRIPTION When you have a car as nice as this one the photographs of it will do a much better job of describing the car than we could ever hope to. This 1966 Volkwagen Convertible was put through a complete and very thorough body off restoration process that included the rebuilding of all mechanical componets including the engine and transmission. It just passed New York State's strict motor vehicle safety inspection with flying colors. The engine is original however the displacement was increased from the factory 1300cc to 1600cc by the replacement of the pistons and cylinders as well as new cylinder heads, and the electrical system has been thoroughly converted from the original 6 volts to the stronger and more reliable 12 volts. A few other minor liberties were taken with the restoration with one being a change of the color. It is now finished in a Dupont Chroma One single stage acrylic urethane in Spectra Master Green #GS322G. 1966 was a stand-alone year for Volkswagens and very few of the already scarce convertibles survive, even fewer, in this condition. All of the redone or replaced brightwork is blinding, as is the rest of the car and it runs and drives as good as it looks! Lots of expensive extra parts, receipts and restoration pictures will go to the winning bidder. As shown, even the original owner's manual, stamped service book and the plastic ownership card still accompany the car. This beautiful convertible always commands attention at shows and was even the subject for a splendid watercolor painting! We have taken 50 clear images of all aspects of this vehicle.
